DOJ IG: Comey Violated FBI Policies In How He Handled Infamous Trump Memos
TPM ^ | Agust 29,2019 | By Josh Kovensky and Tierney Sneed

Former FBI Director Jim Comey violated bureau rules and procedures in his handling of certain memos he drafted after his May 2017 firing, the Justice Department Inspector General said in a report released on Thursday.

The report said that both the memo he had handed over to a friend to be leaked to the press, as well as memos Comey shared with his attorneys, were improperly transmitted without seeking authorization from the FBI.

However, the Inspector General’s investigation found no evidence that “Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the memos to members of the media.”

In the report, Inspector General Michael Horowitz said the violations came regardless of the memos’ classification levels because Comey failed to release the memos to the FBI after he was fired and failed to ask permission to retain them instead.

Comey tweeted a response after the report’s release, saying that he didn’t “need a public apology from those who defamed me, but a quick message with a ‘sorry we lied about you’ would be nice.”

The Inspector General also knocked Comey for not informing the FBI that he had shared a memo with his attorneys when the FBI informed him that parts of the memo were being retroactively classified.

“DOJ will not prosecute for Comey’s mishandling of classified FBI docs”. Will DOJ ever prosecute any of those complicit in the obvious coup attempt against Trump? Comey signed three 302s knowing the info on those 302s was false. In so doing Comey defrauded the FISA court judges in order for the attempted coup to go forward against Trump. Will AG Barr just drop that issue as well and let Chris Wray continue this coverup by continuing to withhold court ordered release of vital documents? It’s beginning to look like President Trump and the American justice system is going to take it in the shorts for the duration of the biggest crime ever perpetrated against this country. All by a handful of criminals at the very top of the US Government.

This report is only about the memos, nothing else. Not the FISA or many other issues under investigation. I thought they had already said they weren’t going to seek an indictment on this and this is just the report about it. Just now trying to listen and read about it.

Barr could have recommended prosecution. He runs the DOJ.

Yeah James, maybe after they apologize to President Trump
for all the lies about him first.

I actually agree with dirtbag Comey here. Those that said he was going to be prosecuted got some ‘splain to do. I’m tired of being gaslit on this.

I can’t get too mad at Barr. It was shortly after he took over that Mueller ended his investigation, which Sessions permitted to continue indefinitely. Barr also refused to prosecute the phony obstruction case that Mueller was trying to push.

This after Epstein dies. Nice job DOJ. What about the future? What about future FBI managers? Do they have infinite powers?

It has a sharp sell off. I am trading the SPY this morning. It also had resistance of SPX around 2924 and that is where it dumped.

It came about the time I saw the report about trump lying about the China Call.

But could also be the report about QE2. Too busy to see the exact timing to see what caused it

Scratching head here. Comey funneled the memo to the press but not the classified information it contained? How does that work, that you can pass along a memo but not its content? Were the classified parts redacted?

Even if this somehow wasn’t a case of disclosing classified info but just a violation of policy, it would seem to support the notion that firing Comey was proper.

Also, I don’t think this memo thing was ever considered to be the big blockbuster that would have Comey frogmarched in a jumpsuit. I’m hoping the disclosure of this relatively minor item is part of clearing the decks for bigger stuff to come in the main report.

This reinforces my determination to vote for Pres Trump in 2020.

I will crawl over broken glass if I have to, in order to cast my vote for that man.

And may the dear Lord God above keep the Electorates in the Electoral College for the Republicans be sane, honest and not open to blackmail or bribes.

Amen.

However, the Inspector General’s investigation found no evidence that “Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the memos to members of the media.”

How asinine and ridiculous can it get? So, Comey gave the classified memos to a friend who released them to the press, but Comey didn't break any laws because he didn't release the memos to the press himself.

So, just find someone else to commit your crimes for you and everything is just fine?
