Just when we thought CNN couldn't get any more pathetic, they prove us wrong...again. The network on Tuesday announced their climate change town hall. The debate, scheduled for Sept. 4th will be seven hours long. Yes, seven hours. The reason? The network wants to give each of the 10 candidates ample time to respond to questions during this "unprecedented prime-time event."
Each of the 10 candidates will be given 40 minutes to discuss their plans to address climate change. Hosts Wolf Blitzer, Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon will act as moderators.
Here's the schedule of events:
- Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro will be interviewed by CNN's Wolf Blitzer at 5 p.m. ET
- Businessman Andrew Yang, who will also be interviewed by Blitzer, will come on at 5:40 p.m.
- California Sen. Kamala Harris will be interviewed by CNN's Erin Burnett at 6:20 p.m.
- Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who will also be interviewed by Burnett, will appear at 7 p.m.
- Former Vice President Joe Biden will be interviewed by CNN's Anderson Cooper at 8 p.m.
- Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who will also be interviewed by Cooper, will be on at 8:40 p.m.
- Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren will be interviewed by CNN's Chris Cuomo at 9:20 p.m.
- South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who will also be interviewed by Cuomo at 10 p.m.
- Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke will appear with CNN's Don Lemon at 10:40 p.m.
- New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker will also be interviewed by Lemon and will come on at 11:20 p.m.
According to previous CNN polls, 96 percent of Democratic voters want "aggressive" action taken to address climate change.
CNN announced the town hall after the Democratic National Committee voted overwhelmingly last week not to host a debate focused on the issue.
Let's be clear about this: CNN is delusional if they think people are going to watch a seven hour town hall. People can barely handle three hour long debates. But you know what they say... desperate times call for desperate measures. Their ratings are down the toilet and they need something to help revive them.
Average length of a Fidel Castro speech. I’m sure it’s coincidental.
Lowest ratings ever, I’d bet...
I guess I will clear my calendar so I can watch the whole thing. ha ha
“The network wants to give each of the 10 candidates ample time to respond to questions during this ‘unprecedented prime-time event.’”
There aren’t 7 hours of prime-time in a broadcast schedule.
Think a root canal sounds more interesting...
Great point, you're dead on the mark! :^)
“Town Hall”
Which candidate will they send the advance questions list to this time around?
Where is the contrary view being offered to make any of these hacks defend their claims?
These people at CNN really do live in a alternative reality...
Several years ago, I was discussing solar power with a liberal snowflake. He wanted to know why we just couldn’t run everything by putting solar panels on all our houses. I stayed calm and just pointed out how inefficient solar panels are—and mentioned that we would have to reduce electricity consumption. What I wanted to do is grab him, shake him, and yell, “and we then will have to turn off all of the darned smart phones, tablets and other electronic toys that hipsters just love.”
This will be great to use at Guantanamo.
Lets keep this FReepathon moving and git 'er done, Folks!
I’d have to be thoroughly stoned to sit through that. Nah, even that wouldn’t help.
The only sort of a person that would actually watch this is already a true believer. Preaching to the choir so to speak. Non productive except for making the speakers feel good about themselves. A significant liberal pastime.
Wow, wont this marathon bore the devil out of you (if not put you in the funny farm)?
Fredo gets Grey Beaver and Buttwipe?
I’m sure all of the candidates will have their sound bites rehearsed, the sound bite which they hope will be on the news the next day.
I’m sure even CNN officials don’t expect many people to watch this entire show. It’s something that makes them feel good about addressing an allegedly critical issue to voters.
How many people watch all four hours of the Today Show? Some programming just isn’t intended to be viewed in the entirety.
Their ratings will go down 5 points just on that one show.
(if they have 5 points left anywhere)
