~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming
Francis E. Warren Air Force Base is a United States Air Force (AFB) base located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is one of three strategic-missile bases in the U.S. It was named in honor of Francis E. Warren in 1930. Warren AFB is home of the 90th Missile Wing (90 MW), assigned to the Twentieth Air Force, Air Force Global Strike Command. The 90 MW operates the LGM-30G Minuteman III ICBM. It is also the home of Twentieth Air Force, which commands all U.S. Air Force ICBMs.

Warren AFB is the oldest continuously active military installation within the Air Force, established in 1867 by the United States Army as Fort David Allen Russell. The facility came under United States Army Air Forces control on 1 June 1947, and United States Air Force (USAF) respectively on 18 September 1947 until now.
The LGM-30G Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM, is an element of the nation's strategic deterrent forces under the control of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The "L" in LGM is the Department of Defense designation for silo-launched; "G" means surface attack; "M" stands for guided missile, the 30 stands for the Minuteman series of missile and the G after "30" is the current Minuteman III.
The 90th Missile Wing is made up of a wing staff and five groups - the 90th Operations Group, 90th Maintenance Group, 90th Mission Support Group, 90th Security Forces Group and 90th Medical Group.

August 27A Reason to Sing
He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:4
For a man who lives by a code, so to speak, it felt like a major failure. Whatd I do? Well, I fell asleep. Our kids have a curfew to meet when theyre out for the evening. Theyre good kids, but my practice is to wait up until I hear their hands turn the front doorknob. I want to know theyre home safe. I dont have to do this: I choose to. But one night I awoke to my daughter saying through a smile, Dad, Im safe. You should go to bed. Despite our best intentions, sometimes fathers fall asleep at their posts. It was very humbling, and also very human.
But that never happens with God. Psalm 121 is a reassuring song about Him as guardian and protector of His children. The psalmist declares that God who watches over us will not slumber (v. 3). And for emphasis, he repeats that truth in verse 4: He will neither slumber nor sleep.
Can you even imagine? God never falls asleep at His post. He is always keeping watch over usthe sons and daughters and aunts and uncles and mothers, and even fathers. Its not so much that He has to do this, but rather that, out of His great love, He chooses to. That promise is definitely something to sing about.

Reflect & Pray
In what ways do you sense Gods presence? When you dont, what truths can you depend upon?
Father, thank You for Your constant care over our lives. We know that doesnt mean a life absent of trouble, but rather a life held close by Your love and presence. Help us to confidently rest in the assurance that Youre always at Your post.

Mr. RR and I were stationed there in the early ‘60s. He helped erect the Minute Man. Then went to college at Mizzou . Thanks to the G.I.Bill.

Howdy, lauren.
WOOHOO! Cool front for you! It’s been mighty toasty down there lately.
Sounds like “fun” times putting your house back together after it was painted. Good luck getting it done quickly!

Well, at least you got to get out there for a bit of fun. I hear ya on not wanting to stay long if it was that hot. been livin’ with that for a while. LOL
BUT, it’s been deliciously cool the past two days - only 70 degrees today! - and we’ve enjoyed it. Just too wet to get out to do anything. We needed the rain so there are no complaints.
Been staying busy with campaign stuff, which is what I’m digging into tonight.

Well Hi Kathy!
How are things up in the frozen North? I hope that the fires are under control.
I had a glorious ride today, and had to wear leather and gloves. There will be some more hot days, I’m sure, but summer is near the end.
NOW, we’ll do some hiking!
