...NASA astronaut Anne McClain has denied she stole her estranged wife’s identity while on a mission as officials investigate her for what may be the first crime committed in space....

McClain’s legal drama made headlines Friday after her wife, Summer Worden, filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, claiming the astronaut illegally accessed her bank account during a six-month mission aboard the International Space Station, the New York Times reported.

The pair has been locked in a bitter divorce since 2018 as they feud over custody of Worden’s 6-year-old son....

Many folks here predicted that divorce lawyers would be the biggest beneficiaries of “gay marriage”.

What we didn’t predict was that NASA would go insanely politically correct and create real “space drama”.

It is going to be very difficult to impanel a jury of her peers.

Can they find 12 lesbians that live in space?

Homosexuals are inherently unstable. No way I’d give a security clearance to a known one.

Criminal and shameful activity by a NASA Astronaut.

I wonder if this is part of the script from “Plan 9 from outer space”, one of the worse movies of all time.

“Lesbos In Space”...
Wasn’t that a movie, once upon a time ago?

There was a time long ago when that was one of the ways one could be disqualified. Now it is becoming a badge of honor to not only get the clearance but access to sensitive material like codes, nuclear science, and war plans. IMO, they may not be now available to blackmail as we thought in the past but unfortunately they are mentally unstable which is just as important a reason to not award one a clearance.

Should be pretty easy to prove if she accessed the account from space. I mean, how many people could have that IP address?

She still would have had to have the username and password.

The fact this complaint was made with the Federal Trade Commission and not the FBI or other law enforcement agency leads me to believe there is really nothing there other than a tactic to get at the astronaut. Also the FTC would not report this to the press so either she did or her lawyers did. Divorce and child custody is a really nasty business.

Criminal and shameful activity by a NASA Astronaut.

Here lies the conundrum. Were they married with a joint account or accounts? If they are recognized as a functioning married couple by the government, and they routinely had access to these accounts, and there was no court order to refrain, then how could a crime have been committed. It seems to me, according to her statements, she didn't "hack" anything, she "logged in".

I'm sure there are missing details, so I won't judge one way or another. And I do not believe that her being a woman or a homosexual directly affects assessments of her qualifications. If she logged in to move money (steal it) ahead of a divorce court ruling on assets settlement, that might be a crime, but that would also likely violate a court order.

This seems like a sexed up headline and media angle to get ratings and clicks. It's REALLY juicy because it involves married lesbians, getting a divorce and fighting over a child they were raising. This must be on the front page above the fold for the NYT.

BTW, is this Trump's fault or George Bush's? Has CNN decided yet?

“Wife” I don’t accept. To me “wife” is not merely one-half of a romantic partnership, even one issued a secular legal recognition of it. “Wife” is the female partner of a male husband, period; just as “husband” is the male partner of a female wife. The world can ignore history, and not merely religious history but the history of civilizations the world over.

Were it not for how human reproduction is set up and how human pregnancy and child birth are arranged, and how human infancy operates, it is entirely unlikely, with or without religion, that marriage would have become the institution it became in every major civilization, for it was BECAUSE of the combination of those things about human nature that the best place for all of the above human attributes always was and is marriage between a woman and her husband.

There can be various different sorts of romantic human partnerships, but to me there is only one marriage of husband and wife, man and woman. Do what you want to protect what things in life other romantic partners share in common (they’re property & financial benefits and obligations), but you can do so without pretending they are the same as marriage - they’re not.
