The White House on Sunday said the only regret President Trump has about the escalating trade war with China is not jacking up tariffs even higher, clarifying comments the president made earlier during a meeting with world leaders in France.
?This morning in the bilat with the UK, the President was asked if he had any second thought on escalating the trade war with China?. His answer has been greatly misinterpreted. President Trump responded in the affirmative because he regrets not raising the tariffs higher?, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said ? ?in a statement. ?
?Trump in a meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was asked if he had any second thoughts about the tit-for-tat tariff war with Beijing that ?some have warned could create a global economic slowdown.
?Yeah, sure. Why not, the president told reporters at the G-7 summit in Biarritz, France, where he met with Johnson over breakfast. ?
Might as well. Might as well. I have second thoughts about everything, ?Trump said.
The commander-in-chief also dismissed reports that allies had been pressuring him to ease up in the trade war between Washington and Beijing to avert a possible global recession.
I think they respect the trade war. China has been, I can only speak for the United States I cant say what theyve been doing to the UK and to other places ?- but from the standpoint of the United States, what [China] has done is outrageous?, Trump said. So the answer is nobodys told me that. Nobody would tell me that.?

People act as if tariffs are new for the USA. We lived off them “in the beginning”.
Johnson warned Trump that his trade war was "not the way to proceed," and risked pushing the global economy into a downturn.
America’s european allies will regret allying themselves with America.
“Americas european allies will regret allying themselves with America.”
Because they have such great regrets after World War I and World War II? Any more doom and gloom that you want to share before you move to China?
The numbers involved at so tiny this so called war doesn’t even move the needle.
I regret that you are my countrymen.
If you represent the economy where one sheet of copier paper was a billion then the US economy would be a stack of copier paper 22,000 sheets high. That would be 44 packs of 500 sheets paper around 8 feet high. The $30B tariff would be 30 sheets.
I ignore Business Insider.
Lol. You are so loyal to the French.
That’s just the thing....it’s not “Trump’s Trade War.”
The Chinese have been fighting that trade war for 25 - 30 years. Finally, we have a president who wants to fight back.
I remember when President Trump visited China early in his presidency.
He was speaking before a group of Chinese businessmen and dignitaries and he told them that China has been taking advantage of America for years.
The president added, “I don’t blame China for this. I blame past American leaders” (or words to that effect).
The Chinese in attendance politely applauded.
Are you an Europhile? Yeah, Europeans are glad to regard America as ally.......when the President is a Democrat.
You forgot your sarc tags
Americas european allies will regret allying themselves with America.

The question I was asked most today by fellow World Leaders, who think the USA is doing so well and is stronger than ever before, happens to be, Mr. President, why does the American media hate your Country so much? Why are they rooting for it to fail?

....bad Economic times, the worse the better, anything to make my Election more difficult to win. Well, we are having very good meetings, the Leaders are getting along very well, and our Country, economically, is doing great - the talk of the world!
This latest tit for tat between china and Trump drove the stock prices down. My AMD went from about $34 to $28+
I expect it to go back up. I just hope both will stop with the tariffs for a while.
OMG!!! Not the STOCK prices?!!!
