"Deputy Reinosa admitted that he was not shot at from the apartment complex area, as he had initially claimed," Wegener said.
"There was no sniper, no shots fired and no gunshot injuries sustained to his shoulder. Completely fabricated," Wegener said.
Sheriff's officials said in previous days that the deputy was walking to his personal car when he was shot in the shoulder. The shot was believed to have been fired from a nearby apartment building, Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris said.
The deputy suffered what was described as a superficial, "very minor" injury.
The following day, authorities announced that they had recovered a pellet rifle in connection with the investigation. The deputy's uniform, which contained damage "consistent with a gunshot," sheriff's officials said in a written statement.
Deputies, including a SWAT team, conducted a search that lasted until the following morning before the effort was called off. No suspect was found.
.
Reinosa admitted cutting two holes, which he had claimed were caused by gunfire, in his own uniform with a knife, the lieutenant said.

What did Jussie Smollett know and when did he know it?
Article doesnt explain why. Only that he admitted to cutting holes in his uniform with a knife.
Shameful, National hysteria headlines over an outright lie. Wanted overtime?
So, where did the pellet rifle come from? Did they stumble across it on a roof top or did they steal it from someones apartment?
Well, that’s the end of THAT career.
Six years later, with a state law requiring access to officer misconduct records and we still don't know exactly how many officers were protecting a house, but it was announced five years ago that 8 were disciplined in some form or fashion for the unlawful (though surprisingly not criminal) use of force for shooting up a neighborhood and pickup truck during the Christopher Dorner manhunt.
Let's hope so.
He shouldn’t have a job any longer and definitely should be charged and prosecuted for pulling such a stunt. They should also charge him for all the expense of the manhunt including shutting down the school in the neighborhood and the “commotion” caused by such an act. I liked that word “commotion” - it was a lot more than a “commotion”, lady.
“”during the Christopher Dorner manhunt.””
Was that the Big Bear incident or somewhere in San Bernardino County?
By any chance, did anyone set up a GoFundMe page? It is an opportunity for fraud these days.
I would not bet on it. A lawyer, a judge, and a Union Representative can perform miracles. Plus, California does not have a large pool to recruit from.
He may have been covering for a booty call, or something similar, but the more likely explanation is he simply wanted attention and praise and to cause a fuss. It’s sort of like a Fire Dept. volunteer or cadet setting little fires.
Earlier reports had Reinosa claiming the shots came from an apartment complex across from the PD parking lot. “ ‘Its a four-story apartment building that is government-subsidized for mentally ill people,’ the [Lancaster] mayor said.” So presumably the police got permission from Mental Health America to search residents’ rooms and found a pellet gun.
Thank you. I haven’t had the chance to click through and read the rest yet.
Yes, it was. Although Dorner, the object of the manhunt, was in the mountains near Big Bear Lake, police saw a car that was moving slowly along the street near Dorner's residence, 100 miles away in LA. Without warning, they opened fire on the car and wounded the two women inside. Turns out they were driving slowly because they were delivering newspapers. If I remember correctly, the cops pretty much got away with this outrage.
The Christopher Dorner manhunt ended in Big Bear at a cabin, but started in Los Angeles & Orange Counties on February 3rd after the murder of two people, one of which was a daughter of the man who unsuccessfully defended Dorner in the hearings that lead to his discharge from the LAPD.

I understand the confusion, it was not Dorner’s residence, it was the residence of a LAPD captain that might be targeted by Dorner.
Undisclosed discipline was meted out to 8 officers, those who fired the shots or otherwise were there remain to this day undisclosed, and over 200 shots were fired (best estimate based on known bullet holes, total number of shots fired remain undisclosed), many of them hitting the surrounding homes in the quiet neighborhood, 102 bullet holes were counted in the truck (the only firm number known.)
Keeping that fruitcake on a police force would be criminally negligent.
