And never before has so little of the country cared what the NYT thinks. The media is starting to have negative influence - I’m enjoying watching them spin there wheels ever faster but nothing is gain traction. They’ve tried every trick in their book and president Trump is as popular as ever. Next comes self doubt for these losers that should be fun.

To be fair, there is no law mandating unbiased reporting. The NYT's reporting has always "suffered" from this truth. However, in many ways it was Drudge that broke the stranglehold the Times and other media outfits had on purveying "all the news that's fit to print."

The reality is that the NYT like most papers has lost lots of subscribers. In order to survive, they have identified their core audience, which clearly is "cosmopolitan Democrats" - a nearly hereditary professional caste of lawyers, journalists, publicists, and intellectuals, an increasingly hereditary caste of politicians, tight coteries of cultural movers-and-shakers richly sponsored by multinational corporations. That lot "trusts" the Times and will buy their product religiously, under the cognitive dissonance that the NYT is "unbiased." In that context, why would the Times risk alienating some hardcore socialist in Greenwich Village with an unbiased article or headline?

This chart, for me, says it all...you see where voters got their news. Those media outlets KNOW this breakdown, and will carry on with their bias. Per Pew:

Fox News dominated as main campaign news source for Trump voters; no single source as pronounced among Clinton voters
