Do those thoae states require people with cars of a certain to buy them?

BTW, Cuomo’s original plan was to make every car owner buy the new plates, but there was too much blowback from that.

This is a cash grab.

How often?

About 12 years ago our plates changed from Statue of Liberty plates to Empire State plates. I refused to change them and had to talk my way out of getting a ticket. Cop changed the plates for me.

And yet the old plates were allowed to exist until the car was no longer registered in the state...IOW the new plates applied only to new car sales or cars newly registered in the state

Ours hasn’t changed in a long time, new ones are the same price as the old. Only ones different are special orders, you have to have so many people willing to buy them at $25 extra per plate.
