Mistake is one thing. This is a PA grammar thing - think of it as white ebonics. It’s not an “accent”, it’s an entire screwed-up grammar system. Blamed on Germans but I don’t think that totally explains it.
In PA language, my DH would say the grass “needs cut”. Not “needs TO BE cut”, or “needs cutTING” which would be standard English.
The really bad thing is, I see more people actually TYPING this on line (FR included) never mind speaking it. That is what this is - this guy obviously comes from the zone and puts his poor speech into writing without a second thought.
