I hate reading stories like this. RIP
The militarization of law enforcement is easily seen in your picture and it is quite troublesome. Somewhat reminiscent of trying to serve David Koresch. Only burned up a hundred or so doing that.
“Even upon his death, this True Blue Hero gives his life: Trooper Hopkins will donate his organs and his very healthy body to help save or improve the lives of as many as 40 people.”

He asked to play soldier, and he got shot like one.
We don’t need that level of military gear and tactics in this nation. A search warrant, and they used armed vehicles with an attached battering ram.
EXACTLY!
By accident, we drove into East St Louis back when I was in High School on a summer vacation to see the Arch.
Even dad was scared and nothing scared him.
I’m sure its improved over the decades..../not
It would be interesting to see if this raid was completely lawful; if it wasn’t, every one of the surviving members of the entry team could be charged with felony murder.
One way to avoid a "tragic death" like this is to not join SWAT teams. Especially if you have kids.
Another way is to simply not use SWAT teams unless absolutely needed - as opposed to SOP.
the “brotherhood” doesn’t prosecute each other...they stay silent. More info is needed before reasonable comments can be made. Such as what type of warrant, prior arrest record, method of entry, etc. For al we know at this time, he could have been selling loose cigarettes without “permission”.
Prayers up.

I wonder if the local municipality will ticket the vehicle for parking in the grass?
This article by the Berks-Mont News has a lot more detail about what happened.
Early in the morning seems like a dangerous time to serve a search warrant, and in this case the outcome was tragic.
