The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday disclosed that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein was removed from suicide watch in July after being cleared by a psychologist, the latest detail on the handling of Epstein before his death in a federal jail.
The DOJ disclosed the detail in a letter to lawmakers after the leaders of the House Judiciary Committee demanded answers to a series of questions about Epstein's death in federal custody as he awaited trial on sex trafficking and abuse charges.
Epstein was jailed at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan when New York City’s chief medical examiner later determined he killed himself. Lawmakers demanded answers over the death, wondering why Epstein was not being more closely observed after initially being placed on suicide watch in July when he was found with marks on his neck.
“With regard to Mr. Epstein, the Department can confirm that Mr. Epstein was placed on suicide watch in July. Mr. Epstein was later removed from suicide watch after being evaluated by a doctoral-level psychologist who determined that a suicide watch was no longer warranted,” Assistant Attorney General Boyd wrote in a letter to Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) and Doug Collins (R-Ga.), the chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary panel.
The letter was dated Thursday and released by the DOJ on Friday.

These incompetent psychologists often think they know more than psychiatrists.
That is a malpractice case.
My wife is a psychiatrist and I’ve attended many psychiatry malpractice litigation workshops put on by the insurance company attorneys who teach psychiatrists how to avoid situations like this.
I’ve been a litigation consultant and expert witness many times over the years.
PhD psychologist. Psychiatrists are MD’s. Big, big difference.
I also have a 4 year university degree in psychology from a major university. It was a joke. Easiest degree I ever got.
It is worthless. I used it as a foundation to enter neuroscience study.
I worked for a medium sized company in the early eighties, They had a company "psychologist", you could be sent to him for things like tardiness or pretty much anything.
I got sent once and out psyched him, he admitted he was a welder who used company benefits to get his degree, scary enough but he got laid off the same time i did haha. I could never call a person like that a Doctor.

A doctoral level psych is a no medical degrees psychologist
This is kind of an outrageous screwup since this person is probably under qualified and not certified to make that sort of determination

A phd in psychology is way different thsn someone who went to 4 yr college and majored in psychology.

Every practicing psychologist has full conscious knowledge that he/she is a charlatan.
I am not saying psychologists and psychiatrists don’t do some good work. But I think the best of them would not claim significant accuracy in predicting what a patient, examined one time, is going to do.

Psychologists come to me for their own work, but hate me as I do in a few minutes what they often can’t do in years. i.e. find the root perceptual programming event that creates the behavior or disruptive thought processes.
As it relates to the soul, thought processing and beliefs, very true.
However, many, many psychological issues such as depression are caused by physical problems that psychologists are unqualified to diagnose. i.e. TBI for soldiers
Psychologists are to psychiatrists what paralegals are to attorneys.
The two most declared majors at Texas public universities are Psychology and Diversified Studies.
Diversified Studies = Non Declared
