They established the acronym CHANGE to represent their agenda:
Change the standards of gun ownership. Halve the rate of gun deaths in 10 years. Accountability for the gun lobby and industry. Name a Director of Gun Violence Prevention. Generate community-based solutions. Empower the next generation.
Specifically the group wants:
a national licensing and registry system. Specifically, gun owners would have to go through in-person interviews with law enforcement, provide personal references, obtain firearm safety training and wait 10 days for each firearm purchase. Licenses would expire every year and requirements would have to be fulfilled again.
to require gun owners to pay an annual licensing fee.
to impose higher fees on bulk firearms and ammo purchases.
to raise the gun ownership age to 21.
to expand the list of reasons to prohibit someone to own a firearm. Prohibited possessors would include: individuals with felony convictions, any level of domestic violence offenders (protective orders and misdemeanors), individuals with a documented history of violence, individuals convicted of hate crimes, individuals convicted of stalking, and individuals that make a credible and public threat against a specific person or institutions such as schools, churches, or workplaces.
to prevent gun owners from obtaining more than one firearm per month.
to prohibit online firearm and ammo sales and transfers, including for parts.
a ban on assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and other "weapons of war."
a national gun buy-back and disposal program.
to require safe gun storage on all firearms.
to require gun owners to report a lost or stolen firearm to law enforcement within 72 hours.

The rest of the DEMANDS!:
to declare a national emergency around gun violence and create a goal to reduce gun injuries and deaths by 50 percent in 10 years.
to reexamine District of Columbia v. Heller, which says a person has a right to own a firearm in the home for self protection.
to have the Federal Elections Commission (FECT) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) investigate the NRA.
to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.
to appoint a National Director of Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) who reports directly to the president.
to provide $250 million annually for research by the CDC and other federal agencies on gun violence prevention.
urban violence reduction programs, suicide prevention programs, domestic violence prevention programs, mental and behavioral health service programs.
to automatically issue voter cards to Americans once they turn 18
to create a “Safety Corps,” similar to the Peace Corps.
We don't need "more" background checks, we need better data available for existing background checks.
This also means establishing a threshold for reporting, so that seeking mental health treatment is not an automatic disqualifier.
Broward county is a tumor on the great state of FL
The problem is that they are kids. They trust “the man”. They still see governments and organizations that nave not been demonized as somehow Superhuman in their “goodness”.
In a very real way, they still see the government as it is depicted in Norman Rockwell paintings. They rarely, if ever, actually think through the real world consequences of their ideas, taking into account human nature.
That’s why we don’t let them vote.
Hmmmm. Well, the 7 people I knew that died by firearms hasn’t pushed me over the edge. Probably because I understand that was the individuals choice of method of suicide. Except for one negligent discharge by nuzzlin’ joe’s fave weapon, a shotgun. Crappy but NOT the guns fault.
Yes, I’m convinced - let’s lower the voting age...
It would all likely reduce gunshot deaths and injuries among a certain class of people, anyway. Guess which class.
Horst Wessel High.
Broward is part of a cluster of tumors down there.
They just hate those 7.5B-to-1M odds!
Broward is part of a cluster of tumors down there.
Not one of those 20 demands would stop even one Chicago murder every weekend. “Cut the rate in half”... absolute nonsense. It’s all a grab for power and control, and making defenseless victims. That’s all it does.
“How many deaths would have to occur by gun for you as a gun owner to change your stance and give up your gun?”
One. Mine.
I bet their is an equal number of students that would love to kick their asses and want teachers to be armed.
Tell them to move to Mexico. Only one gun shop operates in Mexico. Gun ownership is very strictly controlled. Sure has brought down THEIR murder rate! < / sarcasm >
More than that, “straw man” buyers are almost never prosecuted, convictions for weapons offenses are rare except as plea bargains from more serious offenses, and sentences are light. They never seem to explain what more gun control laws will accomplish if no one is ever punished for violating gun control laws.
This article is certainly more proof that the voting age must to be raised to at least 21.
