Yup, and some in Mexico ripped their hearts out with obsidian knives while they were still beating.
They had elaborate public ceremonies where tens of thousands were murdered thusly on the same day, until the huge stone pyramids were literally covered in slippery blood.
Yup, it must have been good to be a Native American war slave.
TIME TO BRING THIS UP
During the period after the civil war known as reconstruction black legislators who were Republican were elected in the south To stop this democrats came up with segregation poll taxes and Jim Crow laws and the KKK
The New York Times never has been good at working with the truth but mastered fear and panic they’re just a tool for the democrat party.
“”hundreds of thousands of black people in their midst””
In 1619 in America, I doubt that number!

Your doubts are well founded.

(EXCERPT)
The first documented arrival of Africans to the colony of Virginia was recorded by John Rolfe: “About the latter end of August, a Dutch man of Warr of the burden of a 160 tunes arrived at Point-Comfort, the Comandors name Capt Jope, his Pilott for the West Indies one Mr Marmaduke an Englishman. He brought not any thing but 20. and odd Negroes, w[hich] the Governo[r] and Cape Merchant bought for victuall[s].” The year was 1619, and as an institution slavery did not yet exist in Virginia. Slavery as we know it today, evolved gradually, beginning with customs rather than laws.
Mark for later
I was actually saddened to see this response.
Responding acknowledges that the narrative offered by the New York Times is valid. I recommend that in the future you wait to see if someone else gives it creditability.

The history of British slave ownership has been buried ...
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/12/british-history-slavery-buried-scale...
Jul 11, 2015 · They represent a near complete census of British slavery as it was on 1 August, 1834, the day the system ended. For that one day we have a full list of Britains slave owners. All of them.
Thanks for that research...I should have looked for it but I didn’t.
Well, I don’t know about anyone else here but I for one, think we should reinstate slavery. Let’s give them all something authentic to holler about..And I could use the help around the house at my age and an ailing husband who can’t do anything anymore either.
