A mayor in New Jersey has caused a national uproar after he spoke out against a state law that would require students to learn about LGBTQ history.
Alfonso Cirulli, the mayor of Barnegat Township, called the mandate an affront to Almighty God.
One of the mayors most prominent defenders is Franklin Graham, the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritans Purse. Graham was a guest on The Todd Starnes Radio Show.
TODD: You defended the mayor and I was wondering why you did that.
GRAHAM: Well, first of all the mayor is absolutely right. He said this is an affront to God and he was very clear to say that he wasnt speaking for the committee. These were his personal feelings but hes correct. This is an affront to God. And I dont believe that these schools have the right to teach our children something that is an affront to God.
And so the mayor is absolutely right. I back him 100 percent. You know God made us and created us. He made us male and female so that we could carry on the population that we have children and that we would increase. And homosexuality goes against Gods plan for for the human race. And so the mayor is correct.
Im not against gay people. Im not fighting them or anything like that. So if youre gay and youre listening I want you know that I do care about you and I love you. But at the same time I love you enough to tell you the truth that homosexuality is a sin against God. Im not your judge. God is but you will have to stand before him one day and give an account for how you have lived your life. All of us do. And I just want to warn you that God is going to judge all sin but hes willing to forgive sin if were willing to repent and that means to turn from our sin and by faith believe on his son Jesus Christ who came to this earth to take our sins and die on the cross and shed his blood for each and every one of us.
And so the mayor is right. I take my hat off to him. We need pastors to speak out and we need them to in New Jersey and these states where this legislation is being passed. Pastors need to speak out. And if you dont take the lead and Im thinking especially about African-American pastors they need to. They need to come out and speak against this. And if they do you may be itll turn New Jersey around you may be turn Illinois and California around. If the pastors were to speak out and get their congregations to speak out so I would encourage the churches to take a stand because this is wrong you know its wrong. And then lets fight it.
TODD: You know a lot of schools around the country are dealing with this right now. And so many parents and we hear from a lot of them on the radio program they dont know what to do. They know they need guidance. You know they want their kids opted out of these classes. But in some cases like in New Jersey these would be mandatory. What advice do you give Christian moms and dads I mean do they pull their kids out of public school or do they homeschool, private school? What should they do?
GRAHAM: Oh absolutely. Id pull them out of public school and put them in private school. But we can fight. And what I mean by fight is by by writing in your legislators letting you know how you feel. Organizing a march on your state capital and that gets the attention of these legislators when when you show up with 10,000 people at the state capital that makes a difference.
And if the churches would just get behind this and begin to speak out it would make a big difference. But whats happening is were being silent. Were being quiet and just because we are the majority and were having the minority push something down our throats that we dont accept. And we need to speak out and fight against this because that we are the majority of those who oppose this legislate I believe are the vast majority not just in New Jersey but across this country.
we agree fully!
this is child abuse, child endangerment, child annoyance,
and attempt to corrupt the morals of minors
purveyors of such filth should be imprisoned forthwith, imho
Sometimes it takes a big sacrifice on the part of parents, including moving to another state if necessary.
Yes, it does, but parents shouldn't be afraid of it. One homeschool parent I know who educated her 3 kids told me the way to view it is that homeschooling is an extension of being a good parent anyway. Parents are already their children's primary "educators" in many aspects - morals, faith, socialization, basic reading, homework, activities. Now just extend it to lessons on math, reading, history, science, etc....
Also, being involved with our local public schools, I have learned that public schools waste an incredible amount of time. From travel time, to PE, to "health and sex ed," to assembly, to "group time," to teachers enforcing discipline on the class - real learning time for a good student is a very small percentage of the 7-8 hours they devote every day to going to public school. A homeschool parent can cover all that, and more, in 1-2 hours.
Finally, a homeschool parent is not alone. There are tons of online resources with great lessons, and also most will group together with other homeschool parents to share the load of lessons and activities. I know one group of parents who "hired" a biology and physics professor at the local university, who was a member of their church, to teach a group of 8-10 of their kids a couple times a week. What public school kids get university professors to teach them in small groups?
I've noticed the same. Corruption automatically follows whatever they are involved in.
When I retired from teaching they took away the time used to teach cursive writing. I had 7th graders begging me to teach them.

We pulled our kids out of the public school when they pushed their gay agenda——However, we [still] paid the high property taxes.
However, if everyone pulls their kids-—I mean everyone, yes, it would cost these school systems dearly.
Parents must write the White House and ask President Trump to find out if these classes are using Federal taxpayer dollars? If so, parents have the rights under The Hatch Parent’s Rights Amendment to remove their children from this Liberal brainwashing and indoctrination.

I’ve sent comments to President Trump and I receive a confirmation that it was received within a half hour. I have no doubts whatsoever that staff are reading the emails from the American people.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice money and time.
Yes they should. I know its not always easy. Often the right thing is hard.
Thankyou for the links!

Everyone laughs about the slippery slope, but I got to guess child sex is next. Sad world. Sometimes I want God to do the Sodom and Gomorrah treatment on all of earth.
We did...even private schools are getting bad. Homeschool...
Abolish government schools.
Pull your own kids, but don’t abandon those who remain. Try attending a school board meeting. Participate in school board elections, and maybe even run for the school board. Let patents know about what the teachers are hiding.
And so, I must ask again....
Just WHAT THE HELL is Betsy DeVos doing to earn her paycheck?
*************
Good question. She should be delivering memorable speeches about things like discipline in the schools, social promotion, junk courses, LGBT propaganda, teacher qualifications, and needed legislation. She has a pulpit that she isn’t using — if she were using it, we would hear screams from the Democrats.
