A mayor in New Jersey has caused a national uproar after he spoke out against a state law that would require students to learn about LGBTQ history.
Alfonso Cirulli, the mayor of Barnegat Township, called the mandate an affront to Almighty God.
One of the mayors most prominent defenders is Franklin Graham, the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritans Purse. Graham was a guest on The Todd Starnes Radio Show.
TODD: You defended the mayor and I was wondering why you did that.
GRAHAM: Well, first of all the mayor is absolutely right. He said this is an affront to God and he was very clear to say that he wasnt speaking for the committee. These were his personal feelings but hes correct. This is an affront to God. And I dont believe that these schools have the right to teach our children something that is an affront to God.
And so the mayor is absolutely right. I back him 100 percent. You know God made us and created us. He made us male and female so that we could carry on the population that we have children and that we would increase. And homosexuality goes against Gods plan for for the human race. And so the mayor is correct.
Im not against gay people. Im not fighting them or anything like that. So if youre gay and youre listening I want you know that I do care about you and I love you. But at the same time I love you enough to tell you the truth that homosexuality is a sin against God. Im not your judge. God is but you will have to stand before him one day and give an account for how you have lived your life. All of us do. And I just want to warn you that God is going to judge all sin but hes willing to forgive sin if were willing to repent and that means to turn from our sin and by faith believe on his son Jesus Christ who came to this earth to take our sins and die on the cross and shed his blood for each and every one of us.
And so the mayor is right. I take my hat off to him. We need pastors to speak out and we need them to in New Jersey and these states where this legislation is being passed. Pastors need to speak out. And if you dont take the lead and Im thinking especially about African-American pastors they need to. They need to come out and speak against this. And if they do you may be itll turn New Jersey around you may be turn Illinois and California around. If the pastors were to speak out and get their congregations to speak out so I would encourage the churches to take a stand because this is wrong you know its wrong. And then lets fight it.
TODD: You know a lot of schools around the country are dealing with this right now. And so many parents and we hear from a lot of them on the radio program they dont know what to do. They know they need guidance. You know they want their kids opted out of these classes. But in some cases like in New Jersey these would be mandatory. What advice do you give Christian moms and dads I mean do they pull their kids out of public school or do they homeschool, private school? What should they do?
GRAHAM: Oh absolutely. Id pull them out of public school and put them in private school. But we can fight. And what I mean by fight is by by writing in your legislators letting you know how you feel. Organizing a march on your state capital and that gets the attention of these legislators when when you show up with 10,000 people at the state capital that makes a difference.
And if the churches would just get behind this and begin to speak out it would make a big difference. But whats happening is were being silent. Were being quiet and just because we are the majority and were having the minority push something down our throats that we dont accept. And we need to speak out and fight against this because that we are the majority of those who oppose this legislate I believe are the vast majority not just in New Jersey but across this country.
RE: Franklin Graham: Parents Should Pull Kids from Schools Where LGBT Lessons are Mandatory
Well, what to say? He is IN EFFECT asking Parents to pull Kids out of PUBLIC SCHOOLS!
Think local and act local.
First of all, get the Federal Government out of education. Printed Federal Reserve notes and massive Fed.gov debt only supports statists, leftists, political agitation, corrupt bureaucrats, and social-engineers in education. Centralization means leftist perversity will be enforced on everyone.
Yep. Parents need to forget about sending kids to college. It’s more important to send them to private schools or homeschool when they are young.
And so, I must ask again....
Just WHAT THE HELL is Betsy DeVos doing to earn her paycheck?
Parents should pull kids anyway.
I think your are correct. Do you have a problem with removing children from public schools?
I have a friend whose daughter is homeschooling her FOUR children. That takes tremendous dedication.
The conundrum in following Rev. Graham’s advice is that not everyone is up to that task, and the list of alternative schools for your children keeps shrinking.
Got the memo: Whatever we do, don’t mention God in public schools. But, by all means, indoctrinate students with climate change, Orange man evil, homosexual studies, gender confusion.
While I support school choice the deck is stacked against those who do. As a parent you can fight the system spending hard earned money on lawyers while your kids either don’t go to school, making them subject to truancy laws, or you can send them to a private school and pay the private school plus the public school included in your property taxes.
Well, what to say? He is IN EFFECT asking Parents to pull Kids out of PUBLIC SCHOOLS!He is in essence, but not all of the public schools are making those lessons mandatory.
I do not think my alma mater is making them mandatory. There is too strong of a Christian influence there even though it is a public school. (at least for now)
Half-truth history
Teach the students about the minors with Harvey Milk.
Teach about his political and sexual relationship with mass murderer Jim Jones.
Ask how this corrupt pederast became a ‘gay icon’.
RE: Do you have a problem with removing children from public schools?
Not at all. The issue is of course families who don’t have the money to send the kids to private schools ( e.g. a lot of black families ), and who do not have the time to home school the kids.
“LGBTQ History”
What the actual hell could possibly... ok I gotta look this up... *looks it up*...
~~~blank-eyed stare~~~
it is literally a history of sodomy
why the hell would any person want this taught to their child
Gee it sure would have been nice if the Catholic Church would have been able to keep all of those schools open instead of having to pay off big pedophile judgments.
“Gee it sure would have been nice if the Catholic Church would have been able to keep all of those schools open instead of having to pay off big pedophile judgments.”
Notice that both problems are caused by a certain set of individuals.
Everything they touch.......
Unfortunately, even before the alphabet groups were mucking up education, poor students of all backgrounds were badly educated...
The way to homeschool is easy and simple. The task of doing so is difficult, challenging but very rewarding. It takes the dedication of at least one parent, likely forsaking a career and instead being a teacher and mother/father like parents are supposed to be.
It is unnatural to turn children over to the State. We used to rebel at the thought of Russian people allowing the Soviets to educate their children. I remember my parents talking of how they would identify traits in children, and put children into different types of schooling. IOW, the 5 year olds would be cut up into “leaders, educators, skilled workers, military, and dirt farmers” practically from the word jump.
Plus, the truth about Matthew Shepherd.
To do it well is hard work.
