“I remember growing up we had mental institutions, then they were closed — in New York, I’m talking about — they were, many of them closed. A lot of them were closed and all of those people were put out on the street.”
We have over 20,000 gun laws in this country now.
Dude....it way is better than the current situation, which is often DOZENS of times. And I am not specifically referring to "mental subjects", but any chronic offender.
FIRST, at 72YO I find the term “Dude” to be disrespectful.
My point is that ANY tolerance for several criminal acts by any single person is just NUTS & the offenders need to be in a mental hospital or in jail.
In my home county’s case, after “Good ‘ole JimBob” went to Huntsville for his crime spree (including sneaking into homes & touching little sleeping kids), the DA lost his job & was replaced with a “pretty tough customer”, who doesn’t ignore such crimes as “too much trouble to be bothered with”.

Well, since I am also 72, that can't be the case, now can it.
"My point is that ANY tolerance for several criminal acts by any single person is just NUTS & the offenders need to be in a mental hospital or in jail.
I agree with you....but the reality is vastly different, pretty much everywhere.

And again, I agree with you. But I'm dealing with the "is" and not the "should be".
Thank you.
300,000,000 American gun owners didn’t kill any one today... or yesterday... or the day before that...or...
and that’s how I remember it...
Notice the subject of background checks never addresses what happens if you pass one.
It’s as if proponents assume nobody can pass a background check, or that it failed somehow, or that it otherwise should be an insurmountable barrier that if breached just needs some other barrier behind it.
Never do proponents say “you passed your background check? Well then enjoy carrying your pistol or M4 wherever you like.”
