ISIL is building a new caliphate...
The National Post ^ | 8/16/2019 | Josh Rogin

Posted on 08/17/2019 1:55:26 PM PDT by Old Teufel Hunden

ISIL has largely taken over control of a huge camp in northeast Syria, and there’s no plan for what to do with the 70,000 people there (including more than 50,000 children). The United States and Europe must immediately address this urgent national security and humanitarian crisis, before a new caliphate is established while we watch.

After the fall of Raqqa and the coalition defeat of ISIL’s strongholds, President Donald Trump announced that “100 percent” of the caliphate had been destroyed. But the tens of thousands of ISIL fighters and family members left over were herded into massive fenced internally displaced persons (IDP) camps with little aid, security or supervision. Separate from the IDP camps, which house mostly women and children, more than 2,000 ISIL fighters sit in a network of makeshift prisons. The entire system is managed by the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who are under-resourced, understaffed and allied with a United States that is eyeing the exits.

In the largest IDP camp, called al-Hol, ISIL now exerts more influence and control than the few dozen SDF guards stationed there, according to U.S. officials, lawmakers and experts. ISIL women have created a morality police corps inside the camp, enforcing sharia law and even conducting brutal executions, officials said. ISIL is recruiting from the camp, smuggling fighters in and out and using it to plan attacks in other parts of Syria, officials told me. If it’s not already effectively Caliphate 2.0, it soon will be.

“The IDP camp al-Hol is quickly becoming a mini-caliphate and a fertile recruiting ground for ISIS,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told me. “The security footprint around the camp is incredibly weak, and the camp is being run by ISIS types under our very nose.”

Proof?

Why is the U.S. occupying that sovereign foreign nation TODAY?

The entire system is managed by the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who are under-resourced, understaffed and allied with a United States that is eyeing the exits.

This is taken directly from the article that YOU posted here. Isn’t that enough “proof” for you?

"Both of which are **** holes today in spite of the valiant efforts of the USMC."

First off, the Dominican is not a $**hole. That's the other side of the island, Haiti. The above picture is of the port of Vera Cruz, a real $***hole.[/sarcasm]

Secondly, the purposes of COIN is to put down insurgencies and allow the government to function and be stabilized. It's not to install Jeffersonian Democracy. The Banana Wars as they were colloquially called helped to stabilize the Gulf and Carribean so we didn't have a bunch of revolutions de-stabilizing the region. In other words, it worked.

You’re either obtuse or doing this on purpose. The proof I asked for is proof that the U.S. prcks as you called them financed the Syrian revolution. You have no proof because it didn’t happen. The revolution happened because the Syrians hate Assad. We had nothing to do with their revolution.

ISIL is ISIS claiming the land of Israel, otherwise known as the Levant.

ISIS is any offshoot of Islam claiming to be the “true” Islam and declaring a war to the death with all infidel AND all the other flavors of Islam, alm 250+ of them.

The Caliphate is the pipe dream of MoMadMan, some random group of muslims that succeeded in reaching critical mass and taking over the world by slaughtering everyone else till they are all that is left.

Islam in a nutshell...

Somebody is funding them. They can’t do anything without funding. Who is funding them, and why are they being funded.

Seems to me an election is coming up in which the guy who led the defeat of the Caliphate once before is up for reelection.

Just a thought.

I'm being obtuse? LOL.

Pay no attention to the photo below. Those aren't Syrian rebels there. They are -- uh, Mexican landscapers hire to do yard work at McCain's home in Sedona, Arizona. Yeah, that's it.

First off the DR only looks good by comparison. It’s a second world crap heap. And you’re not seriously making the argument that Mexico is “stable” are you? US Government workers aren’t allowed to take public transport or drive at in Vera Cruz tourist brochures notwithstanding.

So there goes that argument.

If this pimple on the ass of ISIS is a real threat then destroy it utterly. Men, women, kids, and goats. But do it from 60,000 feet AGL. Not one more drop of American blood or nickel of American treasure.

Syria is no sovereign nation. It was a collonial district made of various divided collonized tribes which have now been colonized by the Alawites. There is nothing legit about any of these countries in the region until they are divided according to their tribal territories without one imperializing itself over the other. If it was wrong for the Brits or French to do, why is it oK for the Alawites to do, or themIranians for that matter.

And by that one undated photo I’m supposed to conclude that we (America) funded the Syrian revolution? Oh, ok that’s good sound logical reasoning.... [/sarcasm]

I expect more out of you Alberta’s Child. We’ve had conversations before that were a little above the usual internet blather.

Again Lurker, the object of COIN strategy is to defeat the insurgency and allow the legitimate government to stabilize. It’s not to create Jeffersonian Liberal Democracy where everyone walks around quoting Adam Smith and wealth breaks out.

The question you have to ask is are Mexico and the Dominican Republic in any danger of falling into a failed state, fomenting revolution etc...? Hyperbole aside, the answer is no.

You are correct sir. The Syke’s-Picot agreement was the European powers dividing up the middle east according to their wishes and desires to continue their Mercantilist empires. That’s why I have little time to listen to the Europeans lecture us. Between Britain, France and Russia they created this mess.

However, we can’t change the past but have to deal with what we have going forward. We are not going to re-divide up these countries along religious or tribal lines. It sucks, but that’s the way it is. I guess we could give it back to the modern day Ottomans and let them rule with their former brutish iron fist...

Somehow leaving contingency forces somewhere always leads to a LOT more guys being sent.

And more refugees coming here.

That’s how we ended up with Ilhan Omar.

Does this sit well?

Per the article, they have separated the males from the women and children so this whole camp is the women and their kids.
