Guards at the jail where Jeffrey Epstein is believed to have killed himself last weekend are suspected of falsifying log entries to show they were checking on inmates in his unit every 30 minutes when they were in fact not, according to The Associated Press.
A person familiar with the investigation into Epsteins death told the AP surveillance video reviewed after the incident showed guards never made some of the checks they noted in a log.
Epstein was found dead early Saturday morning at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City while he awaited trial on charges he sexually trafficked underage girls.
The news comes after the Justice Department announced it ordered the Bureau of Prisons to temporarily reassign the warden at the Manhattan federal prison place two staff members assigned to Epsteins unit on administrative leave.
I was appalled indeed, the entire department was and, frankly, angry to learn of the MCCs failure to adequately secure this prisoner. We are now learning of serious irregularities at this facility that are deeply concerning and that demand a thorough investigation, Attorney General William Barr said Monday morning.
We will get to the bottom of what happened at the MCC and we will hold people accountable for this failure.
Officials are facing pressure to determine why Epstein, who had been placed on suicide watch back in late July after reportedly being found with marks on his neck, was not being closely monitored.
Several reports have surfaced describing the federal jail as being short-staffed and saying protocols were not followed by the prisons employees.

On the other hand the guard(s) just saved the taxpayers millions.
I’ve heard recently that they can still conduct a trial based on evidence alone, and they can use his estate money to pay for that trial, and they can use his estate money for reparations of the people that he -”allegedly” forced into having sex.
The only thing that the feds wouldn’t be getting is a confession from Epstein himself. Which under normal circumstances the feds only get a percentage of confessions from anybody they put on trial.
Many hospitals use automated systems to track nurses doing their rounds, for liability reasons, so they can show that a patient was diligently checked in on during the night.
My home security system triggers on movement, and makes a video segment when movement is sensed.
All these safeguards are worthless, if you don't have a competent manager actually reviewing the logs and dealing with lapses.
Yes, working overtime in corrections is pretty much standard. However, when the inmate is some high profile and supposedly attempted suicide previously, standard procedure is changed.
At my work, doors are locked, and you need to wave your ID card at the reader to open. A byproduct is it maintains a log of people’s movements. In a prison, you would expect every hallway and section to have a security door.
It would be trivially easy to write a program to monitor guards movement, and to send an alert to managers if there was lack of prescribed activity.
Manhattan Jail That Holds El Chapo Is Called Tougher Than Guantánamo Bay
The Metropolitan Correctional Center, the rust-colored fortress in Lower Manhattan where hundreds of federal inmates are housed, was described as less hospitable than Guantánamo Bay by one inmate who had been incarcerated at both. The highest risk half-dozen inmates or at least the ones facing the most severe charges are housed in conditions so isolating that some have blamed them for deteriorating eyesight.
Tougher than Gitmo ! Until Epstein shows up. Now its F Troop, staffed by a bunch of Sad Sacks, 🤔🤫😏☠️💩🤡🍕😵
Yup. One of my first factory jobs was in receiving inspection where we were supposed to check X amount of parts from each skid.
Well, it sounded good on paper but it would have taken an army of inspectors to check all the required parts.
I was trained to just record varying numbers to make the paper work look good. Then we played cards the rest of the shift.
Just the results of the democrats and their unions. Mediocracy at it’s best.
Ping.

He is dead so he is considered innocent of the current charges.
They will have access to a whole lot of evidence even after Epstein’s death, but one thing will never happen, the sound of “Clinton” from Epstein’s mouth to investigators’ ears. Dead men tell no tales.
“He is dead so he is considered innocent of the current charges.”
If the case cannot go forward I guess ol’ Epstein really showed them...
I read somewhere that a findings of fact can be legally established to settle damages. Which is the logical reason the lawsuit was filed.
And Epstein has an estate which needs to go through the probate system and be legally settled - liens and all.
Morning fake news was selling this narrative....both guards fell asleep and missed checking on pedo Epstein. Fake news.
