WASHINGTON, DC –Democrat presidential candidates and senators this week renewed their threats that unless the U.S. Supreme Court issues liberal rulings on the Second Amendment and other issues, Democrats will fundamentally restructure the nation’s highest court, a shocking threat to judicial independence not seen since the 1930s.
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) filed an amicus brief (“friend of the court” legal brief) at the Supreme Court on Monday, joined by follow leftwing partisan Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Richard Durbin (D-IL), and presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), demanding that the Supreme Court back out of a case over one of the most restrictive gun control laws in America.
These leading Democrats also warned that if the justices proceed to issue a pro-Second Amendment ruling, and if Democrats win the White House and the Senate in 2020, then they will fundamentally remake the High Court.
The liberal senators warn that “a growing majority of Americans believes this Court is motivated mainly by politics,” accusing the justices of issuing rulings through “bare partisan majorities.”
The Democrat senators – one of whom is running for president – told the Court to either “heal itself” or be “restructured” if Democrats take power.
Each of these Democrats fiercely opposed President Donald Trump’s nominating Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett Kavanaugh, with opposition to Kavanaugh sinking to a level of personal viciousness unprecedented in the history of American judicial confirmations.

There is nothing in the constitution that dictates how many Justices there should be. In fact it has changed a few times throughout history. The last change was in the late 1800s. So yes it can be changed rather easily by the Senate.
FDR tried to change it in the 1930s when the court ruled against parts of his New Deal. Back then even Democrats called him crazy. Of course, Democrats today would be more than willing to do this.
Our beloved Constitution is dead, murdered by Marxists.
The best we can hope for it is a short but bloody civil war, with the Left doing most of the bleeding.
I sense that, vicious though they may be, American Leftists share one quality with the typical schoolyard bully — they are shocked when a victim fights back.

The question then becomes — will he ACT, and who will join him?
As far as I am concerned, the entire RAT leadership deserves death or lifetime imprisonment for treason. Average RAT voters should be made to wear some badge of shame.
I wonder if democrats realize that the Supreme Court could simply strike down any such expansion as Unconstitutional. (and before anybody says there is nothing in the constitution that says the democrats can’t, remember that has stopped the Supreme Court from “finding” rights to abortion and gay marriage, so why not?)
We need a Constitutional Amendment to set the number of judges on the Supreme Court in stone.
This just shows how close to civil war we are and how insane the left is.
They claim to believe in “democracy” but what they mean is rule by the “Democrat” party.
I’m hoping this becomes yet another reason for folks who supported the D’s in past elections to now support Pres. Trump. With each passing day, the left is forced to show their true radical agenda.

Just get him to say that he’s copying the Democrats’ idea, and HE will now pack the court.
That will get the hyper-ventilating Dems to push a bill that limits the number of justices at the current nine, which the Republicans will happily sign.

The unveiled threats of the party of the progressives are at least on the table. My question is when Trump wins, we the people have about four years remaining before the threats become reality. Then what?
Average or at least middle level Demoncrats need to be expelled, possibly to Mexico if it has collapsed by then.
I agree, he should nominate several more Justices and McConnell should schedule hearings.

Eventually there will be civil war whether the left ever regains power or not, they have set things in motion that will cause them to start it one way or the other.
Peaceful secession could prevent it but they are too power mad to ever agree to let go of us.
Personally, I’d like to see the POTUS pack the SCOTUS, IF he could, with FIVE more just like the former Justice Scalia.
That would END the continuing foolishness by the 4 LIBs on the High Court for a generation.

Granted, but isnt there a precedent from the rebuke of FDR to make such stacking a dependant court and thus unconstitutional... frankly the Supremes could rule on that.

They do, but they also realize that the illegal, unwarranted (in a legal sense) collection of personal information and monitoring of personal communications (not just phone conversations, but also emails) that was used against candidate/President Trump has been used against others, including Supreme Court justices, for years.

Same here. But the main work, or damage, isn’t done in the SCOTUS, which hears fewer than 1% of cases which come its way.
Trump needs to concentrate just as much on appointing real, conservative constitutionalists to the federal and circuit courts.
