I would guess it has to do with medical privacy. In order for my immediate family to know anything that happened in the hospital I have to sign a document designating them to see the information. I’d guess that everyone involved is so afraid of lawsuits that we get the absolute minimum of information.

The ones that die in the process no longer have any medical privacy.

At this point, it probably does.
Perhaps we need to toss out any concern for the shooter’s privacy when the he is as dead as the victims whose privacy he invaded by murdering them.
