Hong Kong International Airport canceled all flights for the second straight day on Tuesday as crowds of anti-government protesters clashed with police as they continued to occupy the terminals.
"Terminal operations at Hong Kong International Airport have been seriously disrupted, and all check-in processes have now been suspended," the airport authority said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
Travelers at the airport, one of the world's busiest, were advised to leave the terminals as quickly as possible and contact the airlines for more information.
Some flights were able to depart from the airport earlier on Tuesday before the suspension was announced. Flights have also been allowed to land in Hong Kong.
Protesters in the semi-autonomous city have held massive rallies since early June to protest an extradition bill that would have allowed any country -- including China -- to request the extradition of an individual from Hong Kong for trial. Many who oppose the proposed legislation fear that China could use it to arrest political dissidents.

Taiwan should model the Swiss. Send every discharged army conscript home with his battle rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition. Bring them back every 12 months for a day of practice, training and updates, and then a BBQ afterwards. Make it part of the community.
Even the most bloodthirsty communist would think twice about invading if they were facing 1 million armed citizens.
It would guarantee Taiwan's political, but also create a vast gulf cultural independence from China.
I dont blame them, airport needs to be open. Protest at government buildings, shut those down.
Its a shame the citizens are unarmed. This is the direction our government will take us when the tyrants get control. Trump is the only one standing in the way.
Screw. China. Into. The. Ground.
The Chicoms are running the playbook Putin used in Ukraine. Maybe they borrowed it from KGB Vlad.

Will Hong Kong become a Big Empty ?
Tiananmen Square meant revolt and dissent result in death. A lesson from the Chinese government.
I don’t see how a second one would not result in death and horror for all to see. But what would the result be? More suppression? More deaths?
I feel sorry for the dissenters under a Chinese regime which does not allow it.
I think I am missing something others see here. I mean that sincerely.
Another day to thank God again for our beloved free republic.
Mainland China has had an authoritarian government for thousands of years, and demanding recognition of democracy from them at this stage is about as much use as asking a tiger to eat lettuce. Against China, they cannot win, and if China enters Hong Kong to impose order, the cost will be unimaginable.
Moscow is next.
We can only hope. And Washington DC too.
Sadly Taiwan now has a lot of Quislings in their population.
Expect that there is a lot of Chinese pressure through bribes and or extortion there.
So not sure how well the Swiss model might work out in the long run.
Was a great place to visit thirty years ago.

Michael Yon reported live from the airport in the morning. Says there was no shutdown only the ChiComs said so in order to push their agenda.
Look how many near and far feel for it.
People did this.

There’s also a video of the singing of the US national anthem while holding our US flag.

This ain’t Beijing 1989 with a bunch of pigeon eaters.
Hong Kong, i.e. the ChiCom puppet government, has to back down.
They know of our freedoms. They know what freedom means to the populace. God bless America.
“would only say to the Hong Kong protestors, that they need the rest of the people of Hong Kong and they will turn off the general Hong Kong population,”
No way.
Support is ubiquitous.
“Michael Yon says the protestors didnt disrupt anything at the airport and the government shut down the airport as a ruse to escalate the situation.”
I believe this.
