President Trump touted former pitcher Curt Schilling on Tuesday after he announced he was absolutely considering running for Congress as a Republican in Arizona.
Curt Schilling, a great pitcher and patriot, is considering a run for Congress in Arizona. Terrific! Trump tweeted.
The presidents Twitter encouragement comes just hours after the Arizona Republic published a report saying Schilling was mulling a run.

Got a feeling he’d be a real conservative.
But i’ve had that feeling about others.
As soon as he opened his political mouth, it was clear to R's and conservatives here in MA, that he was a lightweight, and had no idea what he was trying to talk about.
He might have educated himself a good deal since then, so might be worth listening to with the benefit of the doubt.
He seems pretty good. He needs to be in a solid red district though because he has said some non PC things which got him in hot water which will be used in ads.
I didn’t realize he had moved back to AZ. I think he’d do pretty good and represent us well.
I thought Shilling tried to run against Warren a longer time ago... in fact, it was just 3 years ago. Shilling bowed out, Geoff Diehl and “the real indian” Shiva ran against Warren.
A time was when we saw a novice, DJT, toss his hat into the ring and we thought the same of him. Finding it wasn’t his time, he withdrew, became more experienced and crafty, only to return a few years later. Might KS be made of the same cloth?
I remain sanguine about his chances.
I heard he was running for president with Randy Johnson as his running mate.
He might. I personally doubt it though. There is only one Trump.
Shilling’s life experiences and abilities pale in comparison to Trump’s.
It’s not for everyone.
I could never run.
Everyone knows my temper on here gets me into trouble sometimes, I am not fast on my feet with intelligent, cohesive arguments (if i make one here every now and then it’s because I have the time and no pressure) and hen I get mad or upset I twitch and tremble lol.
All in all, not the characteristics one wants in a candidate :)
There are some rural districts represented by Dems (SE AZ comes to mind) where we could get a long-term pickup. I’ve only been in Phoenix for a year. There are a LOT of transplant Red Sox fans near the city. I don’t know if their baseball allegiance would trump their political habits. AZ in general is baseball friendly. The Diamondbacks are a pretty big deal here, despite the large transplant population, or perhaps because of it.
A good friend of mine provided info to the SEC on that matter.Among other things two Rhode Island state legislators, one a Rat and the other a Republican, were anonymously threatened with violence if they continued their investigation.I met the Republican who was threatened...he said he didn't go anywhere without his firearm since the threat.
Interesting...hope he’ll win...
Perhaps you're right, I don't know. I'm not in MA.
But I wonder if you came to your opinion watching Schilling through the filter of the MA media.
Gave up on running in Massachusetts and turning carpet-bagger, huh?
I came to my opinion from hearing him try his best to espouse a Conservative viewpoint 3 years ago. He failed then.
But, that could be changed today. For all I knew he recognized his shortcomings, and the past 3 years he’s read and read about the founders, the framers, Federalist and anti-Federalist papers, Locke, de-Tocqueville. As well as modern authors, Levin, Sowell, etc.
OTOH, he’s dabbled and fumbled his “38 Studios” game company. He supported the nutty Shiva over the Conservative choice of Geoff Diehl for Senate. Not sure of what else he’s done since 2016, though.
My guess is Schilling will run against O’Halleran in the 1st district (R+2) or Kirkpatrick in the 2nd district (R+1). The rest of the districts are either safe conservative Republican or wacko Democrat.
Go for it, Curt!
