Communism is such a great alternative form of government. Don’t we hear how wonderful it is from all the left? Notice how Hong Kong is being pounded yet we hear nothing from the media nothing from the left nobody rallying for the people.
There’s that old rule about whenever a headline asks a question, the ONLY “correct” response is “Yes”. (or at least that is the answer that the article-writer deems correct).
But in this case, I think he is.
I asked someone (who is in a unique position to know) that very question earlier today.
The answer I got was a definite ‘no’.
For what that’s worth.
No.
Yes, the U.S. is too weak now to do anything to defend its interests in the Pacific.
Stupidity masquerading as journalism.
I am always surprised what has taken the ChiComs so long to crusg Taiwan.
China wants the wealth Taiwan has. An invasion would destroy the island and turn it into a sinkhole instead of an asset.
Welp. That’s a stupid question. N.O.
I can understand this.
After all, it was Japan's belief that they could destroy the entire American fleet at Pearl Harbor and then we'd have no choice but to sue for peace, but the bigger miscalculation was as Yamamoto said, you CANNOT knock out the RESOLVE of America to keep fighting, and it's ability to replace ALL of its loses.
Well, the fleet WAS almost knocked out; lucky our carriers weren't there.
Since then, a long held strategic American objective is to convince the world that we're so strong that no one can attack us without destroying themselves.
We never want an enemy to believe they can beat us, because if even if they can't (like 1941 Japan), when they believe they can, wars happen.
Oh, boy, look at this. Hong Kong’s outlawed the rickshaw. See, I always thought those would be perfect for New York.
The world stood by and watched when tanks crushed the Tiananmen Square protests. How will the west react when Chinese communist tanks crush the Hong Kong protestors? I would expect the two score Democrat candidates will have a problem with how to react. Will they turn on their communist brothers or stand by and watch while China again crushes democracy?
Even if no one came to Taiwan’s defense (which won’t happen) there would be a lot of carnage to Chicom troops and Taiwan probably could do a bit of offensive damage to the Mainland. The rest of the world even the Euroweenies would tear up treaties and trade agreements. Economically the Commies would back themselves into a nasty little corner. WWIII?
Inane article.
Deep state swamp thinking.
As far as I’m concerned, the legitimate government of China is sitting in Taipei.
We need to make it clear to the Chicomms that any attempt to subjugate Taiwan will be met with the utmost resistance.
Then we need to tighten the screws on their failing economy and make them try to keep up until they collapse. Use President Reagan’s anti-Soviet strategy on the Chinese.
Nixon should have never went to China. I understand his rationale for doing so, to create a check on the USSR, but as always with US interventionism there are unintended consequences and sooner or later we’re going to be paying the price.
