PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — A Florida man is dead after crashing while racing his friend at a closed go-kart track.
Pinellas Park police say Jesse Outlaw was trespassing when he crashed the gas-powered go-kart into a guard rail.
The Tampa Bay Times reports Outlaw wasn’t wearing a helmet when he crashed late Thursday.
The go-kart wasn’t equipped with a safety harness. Showtime Speedway owner Robert Yoho said Outlaw was caught on a security camera trespassing two weeks earlier.

There is a Outlaw family here in Virginia, one was a union rep at the shipyard. He could be seen on television from time to time. Wonder if he’s any relation.
I bet the family sues the track.
I seem to recall an article here not too long ago about someone else named ‘Outlaw’ who did something stupid.

my first wooden go-cart was a surprise gift from a much older cousin....man was that thing sweet...with real good wheels built almost professionally.
Can’t really remember the outcome of that one but their were many more home built versions to follow....down those steep hills of Dedham, MA with a rope and our two feet steering.....at the bottom was Rt.1A we reallly had to make sure we stopped in time...or bail out.
I remember that stuff like it was yesterday, late 70’s

I did a 3 year stint in Shanghai.
We had an expat club that would go to the go kart place, converted warehouse.
The go karts went 35 mph.
No helmets required.
...and here’s the real beauty, the south wall was all glass with a fully stocked full length bar behind it.
They don’t have personal injury lawyers in China.
Everything was cool as long as you didn’t hit the I-beams, which granted, had a few old tires around them.
Those were the days...
The early design had the driver pulling a string over the shoulder to accelerate but later we rigged a pedal, still with no brakes but you could hit 35 mph easy.
A few scrapes here and there but no one died. ;-)

Here in Montana there are a few ‘Madman’ (really, native Americans).
I recall when I was in college there was a murder and every time there was a photo of the ‘alleged murderer’ there was the — required by AP Stylebook — last name of the accused under the photo
