The number of people crossing illegally into the United States has fallen below 100,000 for the first time in months, according to new government figures, signaling success by the Trump administration to solicit more cooperation in stopping migrant traffic from the governments of Mexico and Guatemala.
Last month, some 82,049 people were encountered or apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a 21-percent decline over June when there 104,344 people were apprehended, and down 43 percent from May.
In addition, the Department of Homeland Security reported, the number of family units and unaccompanied minors crossing the border has also fallen.
Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan traveled to a border town—Yuma, Arizona—on Thursday to provide details regarding the declining number of illegal border crossings.

So much for Trump closing the border.
Helloooooo, it’s hot. The number always drops in July and August.
We desperately need for ICE to spend time rounding them up. Heck, ICE could get a reservation at any of our messycan restaurants, eat, then catch their quota of illegals on the way out.
Apprehensions are not indicative of illegal crossings, while being a component of them....
that’s funny, could you imagine ICE drive a big white ICE bus into the taqaria in Conroe texas about noon time. That would be so funny watching everyone running out.
But the tide is turning...it’s amazing that President Trump has managed to do what has so far....a second term will seal the deal.
