It’s obvious anyway but glad to have his help. See my tag line.
I moved from Seattle to rural KY 8 years ago. One thing I found interesting is that it is still common to call black people “colored” here.

It’s not a racial slur or anything, it’s just what some here call them. On a side note, why is “colored” worse than “of color”? They seem to say the same thing, except “of color” really means “not white”. So it is more of a catch all.
I saw that interview. I was very impressed with the young man. Smart and poised (and very good looking)
a ‘colored’ comedian once said something along the lines of
“You white folks call us colored- but we’re born black, live black and die black- You folks on the other hand are born pink, turn white, get red from sunburn, get pale when sick, turn blue when you’re cold- turn grey before you die. And you all have the nerve to call us colored?”
NAACP seems to be fine with colored people.
Someone did tell me that “colored people” is often considered OK. But “the coloreds” is very derogatory. I generally don’t appreciate hair-slitting over any of these things. I says “blacks”. Don’t plan to change. Don’t plan to criticize anyone who used a different term.
That made me laugh out loud! Thanks!
Me too.It’s black.
Did you see the news report where a black man was one of the shooters at that shooting in france a year or two ago. The US news reporter said the man was “African American” and his co-host said something about, well, more like “african frenchman” or something like that. It was hilarious.
Used to call them colored, then negro, then black, now it’s people of color. Looks like we went full circle back to the beginnings.
I may be racisssss, but it seems to me, that every time I watch a black conservative on TV, that they are ' very clean and articulate '.
FNC has blacks on TV, juan, donna, artel, and many others and all are clean, but not a single one is articulate.
The definition of articulate is an ADJECTIVE; (of a person or a person's words) having or showing the ability to speak fluently and coherently.
Every black demonRAT on FNC, has the ability to string multi-sylabic words together, in a long rambling senseless rant, sometimes resembling a sentence, but never a coherent thought.
juan and donna, the two blacks on the 5, cannot say ten words in a row, without a word salad scramble.
This ‘cracker’ will be voting for Daniel Cameron.
I just wish he was running against McConnell for the repub seat.
I believe CNN once declared Nelson Mandela to be “African-American”.
another comedian said “Don’t know why y’all call us negrows- My knees haven’t grown in years”
I believe that ‘coloured’ was also a term that was sometimes used in South Africa to describe people who were of mixed race. Under the current regime in SA, I believe that they, along with whites, are now referred to as ‘dead’ or ‘soon to be dead’.
I’m in southern Indiana and only the old timers might say that. I guess it’s a regional thing.
good one
I work in downtown Louisville and never hear it, but in the small town I live in, I do hear it occasionally. There are very few blacks or hispanics where I live. Interestingly, I lived here for over a year before I discovered we had a genuine “60’s style” black neighborhood. It’s like when I was a kid in Vallejo, CA in the early 60’s.
I would too, if I lived in KY.
