BRITAIN'S hardest copper who tasered a machete-wielding thug despite being slashed in the head has been pictured as his family describe their 'incredible pride'.

PC Stuart Outten, 28, is recovering in hospital after being attacked in Leyton, East London, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

His police officer girlfriend was called to the scene not knowing he was the victim left suffering from horrific wounds.

Police said the suspect had been pulled over in his van on Coopers Lane shortly after midnight, suspected of driving without insurance.

During a two-minute conversation, the man had allegedly become "aggressive" and tried to get back into his van to drive away.

Det Ch Sup Richard Tucker told a press conference the suspect then pulled out a blade and attacked the officer.

Despite serious multiple head wounds and another to his hand, PC Outten was still able to hit back by zapping the man with his 50,000-volt Taser.

Exclusive footage obtained by The Sun Online shows the blood-soaked policeman shouting for horrified witnesses to hand him his radio as he collapses to the ground.

As the suspect can be seen lying next to him, the cop then radios for help.

PC Outten tells a colleague: "I need an ambulance now. I've been stabbed with a machete."

...

Muhammad Rodwan, 56, appeared at Thames Magistrates Court today charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

At least the cop's fate was better than that of Lee Rigby.

Muhammad. Good to see the Amish being inclusive these days in naming their children.

“Hero cop, 28, slashed in machete attack before Tasering suspect”

With an actual gun, you wouldn’t have needed the surgery and stitches.

“Police said the suspect had been pulled over in his van on Coopers Lane shortly after midnight, suspected of driving without insurance”

How does one determine that prior to the pull over? England must have some mean “1984” intel over there.

In any event, God bless this officer.

I blame Parliament. There was talk in the UK recently about banning sharp knives and edged weapons. Only blunted knives would be legal. The ban would even include kitchen knives. (Not kidding.)

If only Parliament had acted on this!

Oh, wait. The suspect’s name is Muhammad Rodwan. Maybe knives and such aren’t the problem after all.

“..suspected of driving without insurance...”

Just what pray tell was the visual clue to that possibilty?

Could be that the cop ran the license plate. In the US I believe that would be illegal, as cops need a reason to do it (speeding, etc.) But in the UK, who knows?

US Leo's run plates all the time in parking lots and traffic lights.

Some drive around with cameras that read plates and note warrants for vehicle/owned of vehicle.

You’d have to be out of your mind to be a policeman without a gun. However, we have a lot of them here who shouldn’t be anywhere near a gun.

Cops run plates all the time while in their car. It’s not illegal. If they pull you over they need probable cause, but having a plate reader or them keying your plate into their computer is done all the time without you knowing it.

Don’t know the details in this case, but in general - “Police have number plate recognition cameras, so they’ll know whether a car is insured or not.

If you’re stopped and asked to present your documents, you have seven days to provide the police with an up-to-date insurance certificate. It has to be valid at the time you were stopped – you can’t just buy insurance during that seven-day period.” - https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/legal/driving-without-insurance/

Interesting. I did not know that. So let’s suppose a cop runs a plate, and finds that the owner has a warrant out for him. Would that be enough to pull the car over? Or would the cop have to follow the car, and wait for the driver to commit a traffic offense?

Active warrant will get you pulled over every time. Only delay might be for backup if it’s a felony warrant.

In florida the criminals steal a car, stash in an apartment complex, then when they’re ready to commit a crime, they go and pick it up.
Who uses their own car to commit a crime?
The cops patrol apartment complexes specifically for that reason. The have tag readers on their cars and just drive around waiting for a hit.

I have seen many videos where a knifeman has managed to stab and seriously injure a cop despite being shot several times. Agitated lunatics don’t necessarily drop dead on the spot when they are hit by bullets.
