iHeartMedia will launch Conservative Talk “NewsRadio 1340” WRAW Reading PA on Monday, August 12 at 12pm.

WRAW will feature a simulcast of the “RJ Harris Breakfast Show” from 580 WHP Harrisburg in mornings followed by syndicated talkers Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Buck Sexton. Limbaugh had aired in the market on 830 WEEU until this week.

The current Spanish Tropical “Rumba” programming heard on WRAW will remain on 92.3 W222BY Laureldale, but now be fed by 102.5 WRFY-HD2. That translator was included in the thirteen facility swap between iHeartMedia and Educational Media Foundation earlier this week.

WEEU broadcasts at 20,000 watts during the day.
This new station is a 1kW graveyarder.

In general Rush’s station list has been downgrading significantly in recent years. His signal here in
Pittsburgh is really crappy.

Indeed though WJAS has an FM translator at 99.1--signal reach (of the WJAS translator) below.

I live in Boston but visit Pitt. twice a year. In Boston iHeart has powerful WRKO 680 (local and some syndie talk), WBZ 1030 (talk at night), and WXKS 1200 (Rush, Sean, Beck etc). 1200 isn't the best signal (OK by day) and gets a 0.1 in the ratings but this way iHeart can tell advertisers their spots are being aired here.

Signal range of WRAW 1340, 1000 watts

As the article states WRAW has been using an FM translator at 102.3 but the FM will still run Rumba, not the talk.

Interesting. As I noted in a recent vanity post Laura Ingraham struggled with an affiliate network of mostly low-power stations. I believe it spurred her to take the TV gig more quickly.

On paper WJAS has great coverage, but in reality they sound like crap. There’s a 700 watt station in the neighboring county that comes in stronger and sounds better.

If Glenn Beck were on a radio station, I wouldn’t be.

That guy is damaged goods.

Rush didn’t do himself any favors going off half-cocked at Sandra Fluck - he asked for it and is STILL dealing with the fallout - totally unnecessary, he needs to listen to Snerdly a bit more.

But still glad he recovered, though!
