Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden told a crowd of supporters on Tuesday that "we choose truth over facts," apparently referring to the Democratic Party.
"We choose science over fiction; we choose truth over facts," Biden said, drawing applause.
The former vice president has a history of tripping over his words.
Biden continues to hold a formidable lead in national Democratic primary polls. He leads the next two closest opponents, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I, Vt.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), by over 15 percentage points.
Although he avoided another awkward exchange with Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) in the most recent Democratic debates, some in the media criticized his performance, with one MSNBC panel noting he seemed to "forget words." Sen. Cory Booker (D., NJ) went after the former Vice President at the debate, however, calling him out for dodging on whether he advised former President Barack Obama’s against mass deportations.
Biden, for his part, has attacked Booker’s record on policing during his tenure as mayor of Newark, pointing to the use of stop-and-frisk.

It’s be easy to accuse him of being a blithering idiot. But, of course, he means they choose their version of the truth over facts. There aren’t versions of the truth and to claim otherwise is not idiotic, but unashamedly evil.

It’s a nuanced thing.
I went to the Canadian National Exposition during the Cold War and came across a Soviet book store as an ‘exhibit.’
The prices were low so I picked up a few books. One was entitled “British Foreign Policy in World War II.”
The facts of the war were accepted by the USSR and the West. Everyone had the facts. But the interpretation or spin put on the significance of the facts was entirely self-serving for the Russians, casting them as winning the war despite the Allies.
Facts are facts. But facts may cast various shadows that have different truths from different angles. Truth may be arrived at, but facts are sturdier things, IMO.
There’s truth and there’s propaganda.
Facts support the truth.
Propaganda twists the facts.
Something the left is especially skilled at.
