There is no evidence presented that this WallyWorld cruiser did anything other than walk into the store and push a shopping cart while armed and wearing a ballistic vest. He evidently did nothing with his rifle other than carry it over his shoulder. I don’t care about your irrational fears concerning firearms or other tools, if the fellow did nothing other than be present, it is hard to conceive any supportable criminal charge. Mr mdmathis6, your argument and accusation is specious so I suggest that you go dangle along with your participles.
He told authorities that he wanted to see if Walmart respected the 2nd amendment. He had told his wife that he wanted to conduct a social experiment but his wife told him not to do it in light of the recent shootings. She likened his actions to that of an immature boy.
No evidence that he didn’t want to cause trouble? His own wife has spoken out publicly against him, according to the link above.
Part of being able to try and keep our second amendment is that gun owners need to be wise, reasoned, and not to provoke trouble or be easily provoked. We are not to take a “la di da” attitude and say “oh well gorsh, aw shux ah can just wok aroun’ carr’in muh guns anytime’s ah wants to...ah’ll jest wok inta ol’ wallymart there and scare some folk...hol mah beer Bubba” like an Obtuse certain Freeper who is apparently choking on my dangled participles.
Oh of course I’ll bet our suspect spoke his intentions to his wife in perfect Russian!
PS: It was an off duty firefighter that detained him with his own personal weapon until the cops got there. The firefighter was employing his 2nd amendment rights in a manner that would have been considered correct by our founding fathers.
I think the judge reams him a good one, and tells him to do community service and if he behaves he stays out of prison.
re: “He evidently did nothing with his rifle other than carry it over his shoulder. “
Called “poking the bear”; Damned idiot could have been SHOT pulling a ‘stunt’ (YES, a stunt) like that. Only a moron would NOT consider that possible outcome ...
(OF course, you IGNORE the fact he was ‘making a production’ out of this ‘action’ by videoing the whole affair.)
Try this on for size, here is a list of things that could be done separately, or together:
o Visit Wal-Mart
o Open carry.
o Make it obvious you are Videoing your activity.
Choose only ANY TWO of the above “for safety” (LOWER your risk of being shot). Choose THREE just a day or two after a mass shooting AT A WALMART and you risk getting shot BY ANOTHER CCW HOLDER who is just a bit ‘on edge’ looking -for- numbskulls IN a Wal-Mart.
