Facebook lost a federal appeal on Thursday in a lawsuit over facial-recognition data. That could lead to the company paying massive fines over its privacy practices.
The tech giant was sued in 2015 under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, which mandates that companies make a public policy before collecting and storing biometric data -- including face scans -- and explain how such data will be stored.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg's company has used that technology in its photo tagging feature, which can tell whether an image includes a user's friends.

The Court should at this point Require Facebook to Post a Bond for $100 Billion Dollars to satisfy potential claims before the case goes forward, OR Give up their DOMAIN to the Government.
Sadly, Facebook users freely gave all that data to Zuck.
Is this your friend Bob? If so, click Yes. Stupid people do stupid things.
Hope he does lose. Arrogant little twit.
When something is free, you are the product.
And I assume that if someone posted a picture a group of people some of which are not Fakebook users, they have captured and tagged those people as well, even though they could never a consented to their data being collected.
I don’t think Zuckerberg actually started out with a goal of becoming Orwellian incarnate, but he is certainly in that category now.
The media secretly hates facebtch for getting all the add revenues of newspapers and jobs of journalists. Yet Zuckertard or Bezos keeps catering to them.
Yes that. But even paying newspapers will dox you... and get away with it
Good!
Oh, I get it:
You upload a photo that features your pals.
“Hey, GAIJIN, you haven’t yet SHARED that there photo with your FaceBook friends, don’t you think you should DO that..?!”
Super creepy, exactly what Zuck would do.
Should our personal data such as DNA, fingerprints, facial recognition, etc belong to the individual as property, and use of it be restricted to those who have written expressed permission?
Theft of medical records or financial information is a crime...So should be unauthorized acquisition and use of biometric information...Legislation lags behind the criminal and nefarious mind...We have the right to be secure in our person...
ingsoc is so accurate
Someone please post an image of the cute Asian boo hoo girl!

Does Zuck have enough to balance Illinoiss books?

In a nod to diversity, another boo hoo person.
And this is a huge issue for me with fakebook and google. I have no relationship with them and do not use their services in any way. I have never agreed to any terms of service. I have not consented to their data policy. Yet they acquire your information from others contact lists, follow you around the web, tag the unique machine identifier in your computer to track you. They create great datasets of information on you. I have not consented to this and do not use their services. How is this even legal?

This is the Facebook Is Evil ping list.
