Today's socialist democrats are openly expressing their hatred for America, our founding, our history, our constitution, our free economy, our right to keep and bear arms, our private property rights, our rights to accumulate wealth, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc, in fact, they hate freedom itself. They want to curtail our rights, disarm us, take our wealth and our private property, strip away our freedom and replace it with socialism.
Hmm... that's the same thing the socialist USSR did. The national socialist Germany did. Imperial Japan did. Socialist China did (after the free world saved their bacon, btw). Socialist North Korea did. Socialist Cuba did. Socialist North Vietnam did. Socialist Cambodia did. Socialist Venezuela is doing.
These things never work out well and usually lead to mass murder of citizens by their own oppressive/socialist governments and war.
And now socialist China is about to oppress and squash the free people and free economy in Hong Kong.
Unlike our socialist democrats, the freedom-loving patriots in Hong Kong are now proudly flying the American flag as a universal symbol of freedom.
And holding up signs wishing they had a 2nd amendment.
Lessons should be learned here.
Well said, Jim.
Socialism is the lie that fools people into surrendering their freedoms for government provided benefits and security that are never delivered as the crooks running steal money from the social programs.
Why do people get this mixed up?
Communism vs. socialism in simple terms The key difference between the two theories is that under communism there is no such thing as private property, while under socialism, private property can exist but all industrial and production capacity is managed by a democratically elected government.
China is as far from Socialism as you can get.
I guess I get upset at the notion that the terms are used interchangeably....they are very different
That may be the dictionary version of theoretical socialism but tell it to the victims of real socialism.
Totally understand that and its a message that needs to be screamed from the mountain tops but I am not so sure the socialism piece will be in practice in Hong Kong once the take over happens. I suspect it will be a brutal humanitarian tragedy and the true form of China and its communist ideology will be on full display. The question will be what is the west going to do about it.
I did enjoy the post..
Mega BUMP!
There is no practical difference between socialism, fascism, communism, Islamofascism, etc. They all lead to totalitarianism. You have no rights other than those the oppressive government allows, no private property they can’t take on a whim, no wealth they can’t take. No freedom, no justice. If they want yo dead, you’re dead.
Matt Bracken is doing an excellent show on Communism.
I had hoped that when the 1997 takeover happened that the little mouse would change the big elephant.
Tiananmen Square disabused me of any such optimism.
ummm, i thought China was communist. Socialism is nothing to them..
In the former USSR, a small amount of farmers were allowed to own their land, somewhere around three percent of the farmers. This three percent produced 30% of the food. The commie masters knew that, the were not that stupid, they had to eat. As one former talk show host used to say: it is the difference between rape, and seduction.
The road to communism is a process outlined in part 2 of the communist manifesto. When a capitalist country enacts a socialist government, regulating and controlling privately owned business (fascism), it begins the process. It evolves into a full-blown socialist country and ultimately becomes communist.
Once a country begins this process, unless it is stopped and reversed, it is on the road to communism. While one can argue there are nuanced differences between fascism, socialism and communism when viewed as a process they are all the same thing.
I think we have all missed the boat. Breitbart was right.
Politics is downstream from culture and religion...
(There is some wisdom in the Hegelian structure/superstructure conceptualization)
The elites killed religion and captured the culture.
Here we are.
The internet, including this very website have proved a powerful counterpoint, but alas the elites are coming down on the net hard...
The difference between socialists and communists is the communists are in a hurry.
Over 100 million people killed and there are still people thinking they can do it it better.
Better? Kill more people.
Before I retired I had five Chinese citizen student assistants over about three years at the university library.
The last was a devout Christian and conservative who married a young American who was a US Army officer graduating. She will stay but her two nice parents went back to China under a deal to visit her, and they are under scrutiny and religious suppression for being Christians in China.
Too young to have been at Tiannamen but she knew the official story of one accidental death was nonsense and that thousands were killed systematically. She said the people were fools then to not take seriously that protests against the ruling elites there are fatal. She had firsthand knowledge of the sickening fruits of Communism and cherishes our nation of freedom.
Amen - but, on the bright side, if Bernie gets elected we can all have lots of fun waiting in lines for food....they probably won’t let us talk to each other, “for security” reasons”, but the fun will be there...
Maybe the vociferous dead weight will start to realize that the only way to keep our FReedom is to actually invest ourselves in its preservation, instead of thinking their words are payment enough...lots of folks doing the “...only regret is I have but one life to give....” bit without ever experiencing actual intent to risk everything (or even anything) for their FReedom.
God Bless Jim/FR/the whole FR crew(s) President Trump, America and those who offer more than empty words as investment in their own FReedom.
