“We live in very screwed up times.”
Hell, we’ve entered the Twilight Zone.
Agreed...
Well, it may just be NAZI Germany two or three years before all hell broke loose.
Sad to say, this is exactly what I was thinking as well.
Either way, there is only one solution to the problem: take her to the range and teach her how to really handle, load, and shoot the pistol safely so she can if needed. Make her learn to disassemble, clean, and reassemble it until she can do it unassisted. Discuss where it is stored, how it is accessed, when it is to be accessed and by whom, etc.
If she takes to marksmanship, fine. If not, she will at least know it is just another potentially dangerous machine inside the house with a specific purpose that is only to be used under specific circumstances.
Probably wouldn’t hurt for her to go through some CCW type course so she can learn the real facts about using a weapon in self-defense from an authority figure (other than Dad) and also the life-changing consequences that inevitably flow from having to do so.
This should go a long way toward extinguishing any curiosity about the scary, mysterious thing in (wherever it was stored) (just in case it was an accidental discharge after all.)
“My youngest is 35 and all three shoot like Tennesseans.....”
I too am a Tennessean and shoot like it.
