Trump considering executive action over alleged anti-conservative tech bias: report
The Hill ^ | 08/07/19 | Harper Neidig

The White House is reportedly exploring potential executive action President Trump could take to address his and other Republicans' allegations of anti-conservative bias among social media companies.

Politico reported Wednesday that the White House has circulated a draft proposal, though it is unclear what exactly the order would do or how it would target tech companies. One source told the outlet that the details of the proposal remain in flux.

"If the internet is going to be presented as this egalitarian platform and most of Twitter is liberal cesspools of venom, then at least the president wants some fairness in the system," a White House official told the outlet. "But look, we also think that social media plays a vital role. They have a vital role and an increasing responsibility to the culture that has helped make them so profitable and so prominent."

Two other unidentified sources confirmed the existence of a draft order to Politico.

A White House spokesman told The Hill that the administration is looking at "all policy solutions."

“The President announced at this month’s social media summit that we were going to address this and the administration is exploring all policy solutions,” the spokesman said in an email.

Trump convened a summit of right-leaning social media personalities in July to complain about internet platforms’ alleged bias against conservatives, a suspicion echoed by other Republican figures.

Social media companies such as Facebook, Google and Twitter have all denied that they discriminate against users based on their political ideologies.

But at last month’s White House summit, Trump vowed that his administration would explore “regulatory and legislative solutions” to any infringements on online political speech.

“We have terrible bias. We have censorship like nobody has any understanding or nobody can believe,” he said.

Someone like Paul Joseph Watson would make a good advisor detailing the problems conservatives are facing on the internet.

FWIW, our local MacIver Institute is suing our POS LibTard Governor because he has denied them access to press briefings and such.

Conservatives ARE fighting back where they can! MAGA! :)

Be still, my beating heart.

Somebody in DJT's admin is giving him damn good advise. Google is evil....I've not used them in decades. Social media in general, imho...

I’m pretty sure the federal government does business with Google and Facebook and Twitter and Amazon and Microsoft and other tech companies. Might be within Trump’s power as president to curtail or cut business with those businesses. Example: the Amazon deal which was put on hold by Trump a few weeks ago, until after review.

A post/blog by radio host Dennis Prager (Prager U) discussed the The 10 Commandants and was blocked because one mentioned murder/killing. THOU SHALL NOT KILL.

Google/Facebook/etc. are frikn bastards...I'd be happy to see them off the damn planet.

A federal court ruled that Trump cannot block people from his twitter feed because it is an official mode of communication from a government official.

My question is why isn’t the reverse also true? Why does Twitter get to block his tweets, overtly and in the shadows? I would think they should be sued by people who are getting the “blocked offensive content” messages when they try to access POTUS’ tweets.

I think our great President needs to take a big leap off the Twitter group and help support. A new conservative site...surely, he knows a billionaire that could start up a new “different type of Twitter network, one that we conservatives would be glad to get behind”. Cut off the head of Twitter and replace it with a new Twitter, say Flitter”

Good. There are a few things that can be done.

Antitrust action. Repeal section 320 protections.

They should regulated like utilities and barred from discriminatory provision of service for any but “CLEARLY ILLEGAL” speech. Yes, this specifically means their so-called “hate speech” codes have to go.

Yes, about time. Normally I would defend the first amendment, but these communication sites have become so ubiquitous that they cannot be singularly controlled by the perverted values of a single viewpoint.
