Shares of The New York Times Company plunged as much as 20% on Wednesday after the publisher said it expects total advertising revenue to fall next quarter.

The newspaper publisher reported second quarter results on Wednesday that beat expectations for earnings per share but fell short of revenue estimates.

The New York Times also said it added 197,000 new digital-only subscribers during the period, bringing the publication's total subscriber base to 4.7 million.

Maybe it will be sold for $1, like Newsweek.

NYT has so thoroughly discredited itself with its “news” paper
that is should cease publication

and concentrate, focus only.. on the little bit that it still can do reasonably well..... focus on becoming a
theatre/arts comments/review page online

with crossword puzzles.

Politics aside, this is what happens when, for decades, a journalistic enterprise hires people who want to change the world, instead of journalists who want to tell the story.

Anything from business insider should be considered BS. I’ve never dragged a business insider reporter into a blind alley with no witnesses around to check his bona fides, but I’d guess from experience that the SOB is a liar.

What about the subscription losses from the headline fiasco, where the liberals thought the headline was not slanted against Trump? Can you believe some liberals were going to cancel because of the perception that the Times was not anti Trump enough in that incident????

Maybe it will be sold for $1, like Newsweek.

Its market cap is $5.2B and its stock is still up 40% YTD, so you might have a hard time getting the board to accept your offer.

“It’s time for the Old Grey Whore to die.”

Where have you been, Fred? The old whore has been dead for decades. I’ll send you a bottle of holy water that you can sprinkle on the vampire bitch and watch her smoke like a chimney fire.

LOL!!!

That “few free articles a month, then they block you” can be gotten around completely by deleting all cookies from nytimes.com.

A good example: I pulled up a Wash Po article, it said I was out of free articles. I a new browser window I deleted all the wapos cookies. Switched back to the original window, did a reload and presto, no messages about running out of articles.

Many sites use cookies to determine how many visits you’ve made to their site. Delete the cookie(s) and they have no idea.

I seem to think they do have a pay wall. Or maybe I’m mixing up NYT and WP?

See my reply at 15. They both have you only get a few “free” articles a month traps. Delete their cookies and get a fresh start.

We get the weekend NYT edition, the one with the magazine (with the puzzles).

You can predict with absolute certainty what the magazine will feature, every single week. About 70% is about racial issues (take a guess who's always portrayed as bad) or demonizing Trump and/or Republicans. The letters to the editor page is 100% supportive of this. There is NEVER an issue where race isn't the dominant theme, and there is NEVER a word said about the rot that exists in black culture (absent fathers, feral behavior, hostility to whites, knockout game, etc.). Blacks are ALWAYS the victim.

The paper does have a long and undistinguished record of lying and being totally wrong.

Such is the state of the so-called “greatest” of our press.

What a joke.
