Our courageous truth-tellers in the national news media have decided to attack The New York Times as fake news. The crime leading to the Grey Lady getting canceled?
A headline attempting to describe President Trumps extended response to two mass shootings with different motives: TRUMP URGES UNITY VS. RACISM.

Maybe MORE PEOPLE will CANCEL THEIR SUBSCRIPTIONS !
Stray ONE IOTA off the orthodoxy road and the left will gut you.
Talk about fascism — the left defines it.
LOL you can be the flagship carrying the hard left’s water for a century or more, but the moment you print a non-slanted headline they go all boo boycott cancel on ya.

That is the new media marketing strategy. Wide appeal means appeal to nobody. You don't try to attract a large, undifferentiated audience.
You appeal to the passions of a smaller segment and try to hold onto it. And in big cities, the Times audience is a large niche that the company doesn't want to give up.
Everyone enjoys holding and reading a newspaper.
It's not the 1950s anymore. If some people enjoy holding newspapers, it's because of the nostalgic appeal of some part of the past that is quickly vanishing. The days when Dad brought the paper home to mom and the kids are gone.
