China has been engaged in a trade war against us for 40 years... and they've been winning because we never fought back.

Until now.

Exactly right.

But now we finally have a president who fights back and we will win in the end.

When I was a kiddo I remember buying school jeans with my mom one year and seeing ‘Made in China’ in the label. I’d never seen that in or on anything before.

I double dog dare you to find school clothes that don’t have that now...

I agree with what Trump is doing. However, we need to remember that China is more than willing to let its people starve to win a trade war.

Right, and they are going to have hyper-inflation.

you can’t have a trade war without a strong economy and an administration that knows to keep growth destroying regulations to a minimum.

now is the time to have this fight.

“Exactly right.

For many years lots of “conservatives” would sing the praises of offshoring to China. They would laugh at the backwards souls who would dare worry about such things as saving American jobs, or national security.

To all you free traitors who did all you could to dig this hole, I hope you see what you’ve helped create.

Well the fight is on now. China’s communists are playing with fire.

They are loaded with debt, and have accumulated enemies with their aggressive behavior (internally, as well as around the world).

Their economy is a house of cards, rife with fraud. They have have been riding a torrent of money coming from outside, and being printed by their Government for a long time.

Now they are going to be tested for real.

Well, after Pearl harbor we found out just how quickly America can ramp up manufacturing. We’ll be much better off in the long run if we go back to producing our own goods.

The trade war leads to a strong economy in the long term. Oh yea Americans never think in the long term they only think about the next quarter.

You know it’s the right move when the free traitor talking heads on the business news channels are freaking out over it.

Free Traitirs™ are evil scum of the earth POSs and will NEVER admit what dangers they have wrought to make a quick buck. Never. Bert is a prime example.

Why is it awkward agreeing with me? Simply start calling balls and strikes like you see them. QUESTION EVERY non religious convention. Most if them are BS.

sometimes,(just sometimes) Trumps grasp of the situation just blows me away—— China is going to retaliate by canceling US grain orders————OOOoooooh.......

in a year when we’ve had a horrible growing season and our midwest grain production is a mere fraction what it usually is—— there could not be a BETTER time for China to cancel their grain and agri orders—lowest production year in decades—— we couldn’t sell what we don’t have!! I really don’t think the government is that smart, though....

“The DOW sells off $1T in value over a measly $30B tariff LOL!”

Attacking our markets is one of the tactics that China has been deliberately developing. They have explicitly had people charged with developing the capability for them, so they could use it to coerce our decision makers.

They have systematically cultivated people on Wall Street, and engaged them in personal financial deals with Chinese firms, that makes them controllable. China can use their own financial assets to manipulate markets in the short term, like other wealthy individuals can (e.g. Soros). They have also devoted a lot of resources to develop capability for cyber penetration into our market systems.

So I expect some market disruption, as well as media campaigns inside the USA, to be launched by the Chinese communists, as part of a serious trade conflict (which we are now in). Our Government has means to counter much of this - but the battlefield is not limited to tariffs and currency manipulation.

Yes, and for those who are too snooty to engage in a trade war, we could just surrender.

If we have to be inconvenienced by a little economic dislocation of a trade war, then let it be so. There are hundreds of thousands of American soldiers who gave their lives who would have gladly chose that route.
