History is replete with examples of people who died in the support of a cause.
In our history Patrick Henry stated “Give me liberty or give me death”.
Nathan Hale stated before his execution “I regret that I have but one life to give for my country”.

He didn’t give his Life, he is still breathing.
If you meant he “dedicated” his Life, that is a whole different animal.
In a sane World he would be Hanged in weeks after a speedy Trial.
In the real world, women will be writing him Letters expressing their Adoration and Love for him while he sits in Prison while pleading with him to let them bear his Children.

He surrendered, because he didnt want to die.
