Many media sites have sworn off using he or she. Those words are discriminatory and sexist, and might contribute to global warming. Sure, this leads to confusion. But its way more important to be politically correct.

Yet the point of language (vocabulary, grammar, syntax) is to communicate not obfuscate, to be as clear as possible not deliberately vague. Destroy language, destroy thought.
