The drama in the Lone Star State continues as House Speaker Dennis Bonnen and State Representative Dustin Burrows are now being implicated in an alleged bribery attempt.
BLP covered a report about conservative grassroots activist Michael Quinn Sullivan recording a meeting with Burrows and Bonnen, in which they offered Quinn Sullivans group media credentials in exchange for targeting 10 Republicans.
State Representative Steve Toth told the Texas Tribune, What I derived from the audio tape its very clear is that Speaker Bonnen was not truthful about a list not being provided.
He claims that the recording reveals the list of ten Republican House members that Bonnen wants to target and that the scheme was referenced, over and over, and over again. Multiple times.

Fake news - the Dems are serious about destroying Texas.
This isn’t the Dems.
Now retired Senator Joe Strauss is all the proof you need to see that the Texas GOP isn’t exactly all snow white innocence. There certainly are issues in state GOP leadership.
If you want to collect bribe money with impunity, one surely would never run with an (R) after his name
Also note that this was state GOP targeting state GOP...
GOOD! We literally had a two to one majority in BOTH branches of the legislature, along with a Republican governor and still they REFUSED to do a thing about property taxes going up by 10% PER YEAR. For all I care, they can all go to jail.
(Obviously that’s not my only gripe with them)
Yeah - I can read - I’m sure the accuser is a rock-ribbed “conservative journalist” too.
Bonnen is a SNAKE. FAKE NEWS? Probably not knowing him. Im in his district and refuse to vote for him. Hes the only reason I cant vote straight party R.
And Bonnen is a liar. He flat out lied about the constitutional carry guy-saying they threatened his family-until the DPS body cam footage proved otherwise. But it didnt stop him from using the incident as an excuse to stop constitutional carry to satisfy all the Dems who voted for him as speaker.

Interesting point - so if it was Dems targeting Republicans it wouldn’t be news?

Just Watchin....
And Texans seem willing to fall in line with the left in 2020. It won’t be easy for Trump to win TX in my opinion. Hope I’m wrong
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Had my own bunny going.
In the old days, there might have been a “concern”......
Just like here in WV, the “R” brand is applied with a running iron.
It wouldnt be anything *new* per se - or out of the ordinary anyway.
Only way that happens is if most of the Republicans run as bad a campaign as Cruz did this past election. Look at the statewide and state rep results for what happens if the Republican candidate doesnt take votes for granted and run a low energy campaign.
