The United States has put NATO members on edge by withdrawing from a landmark arms control pact with Russia on Friday, the military alliance's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told CNN Friday.

Speaking to CNN's Hala Gorani, the Norwegian politician called the end of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty with Moscow a "serious setback."

"I'm part of a political generation that was shaped during the 1980s, where we all were concerned for the risk of nuclear war and where we were actually able to reach the INF treaty that didn't only reduce the missiles but banned all intermediate range missiles and weapons," he said.

Why? are we going to build 10,000 new nukes?

I doubt either side was complying with the agreement wholeheartedly.

NATO is long past its expiration date.

Turkey should have been tossed out in 1973.
We and it are incompatible.

That treaty also restricts how we can respond to China’s ongoing military expansion.

LOL, sure it’s a “serious setback”, at least for those intent on America becoming weaker.

If he’d been shaped by the 50s and 60’s he’d know what fear of nuclear war was really all about.

Absolute BS and horrible reporting from CNN. The INF died because Russia built, tested and deployed 4 battalions of intermediate range cruise missiles with nuclear warheads. They blatantly violated the treaty under Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama. He did nothing. Trump is actually standing up to them, and this cowardly, fish eating surrender monkey is afraid. How far they have fallen from their Viking ancestors.

When Russia is proliferating through client states like Iran, why should we honor the treaty?

The Russians violated the treaty continually. Moreover, the Chinese are not a party to the treaty. Why should we self-impose restrictions on our nuclear force while our biggest enemy has no such restrictions.
