U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday he is considering a quarantine or blockade of Venezuela, as the United States steps up pressure on President Nicolas Maduro to relinquish power.

Asked by a reporter whether he was considering such a measure given the amount of involvement by China and Iran in Venezuela, Trump said: “Yes, I am.”

The Monroe Doctrine, it’s the law... it’s 150 years too late to be challenging it (no matter what horse-face Kerry says).

given the amount of involvement by China and Iran in Venezuela...

Those that know me know that I am Very Slow to say that trouble may be coming.

I NEVER want it and it seems sometimes like a few folks I know do want it (not here).

But trouble is brewing with China.

I have never thought this until now, but I believe there is more a chance of at least a scuffle than not in the next year or so.

Scuffles can get out of control.

China is lashing out in a lot of directions

The problem with China is that US ceos moved tens of thousands of us jobs there. It’s those companies that are at fault

A hurting economy will add fuel to the BAD kind of nationalism that is guided by the govt.

Just the seas over there alone are ripe for a fisticuffs.

A fast and small altercation where we Dominate the skirmish would not be a bad thing for them to see and taste.

One of those events where everyone denied it happened.

And they DO have their hands in a lot of cookie jars.

This is primarily aimed at China and other outsiders. But if you are intent on setting up a communist dictatorship in the Americas, outsiders or not, we’re going to make it hard on you. I’m all in favor of that.

The Monroe Doctrine spoke of European interference, and Kennedy had that include Soviet interference. China does not fall under that. Of course, I'm okay with protecting western peoples from Red China without a Monroe Doctrine.

We’re in debt trillions. Another unneeded military adventure only adds to the red ink and the eventual push for higher taxes

We all want AOC to tell us the cost of her spending plans, but cost is no object, not even an issue, when military adventures are concerned - even as herewhen there’s no threat to the national interest

Ok. Then let’s call it the Trump Doctrine.

Sailors get paid whether they are sitting in home port eating Dominoes pizza or sitting off the coast of Venezuela. Not much of an expense.

Does China have more investment in Venezuela than in the United States?

F that. Get your priorities straight Trump, keep your word and f-n get the blockade around Mexico! We are being colonized! We are becoming 2nd and 3rd class citizens in our own soon to become police state. Time for action is now not next term or not when all the talking heads and Rush, Hannity and Levin say the coast is clear.

It’s a little weird sending warships to challenge Chinese “intrusion” in Venezuala - when that intrusion takes the form of investment with the agreement of the elected Venezuelan government

It’s especially ironic since we allow Chinese investment in this hemisphere - within our own borders

Any new war with Venezuela or Iran will likely result in the end of this presidency.

Bolton & Faux News keep trying to get Trump to touch the third rail. Don’t do it.

Every child being born & yet to be born in the US has $400,000 in debt & liabilities thanks to Democrats & Republicans. What harm will there be in a little more?

The real bogeyman in spending is for mandatory social services. Defense runs about 15% - 20%. Yes, it's expensive. But the crushing debt is not coming from defense.
