Yang urges Americans to move to higher ground because response to climate change is ‘too late’

DETROIT — Andrew Yang says it’s already too late to stop climate change, and that it’s time for Americans to head for the hills.

Yang, debating his fellow Democrats on Wednesday night in Detroit, had this to say when the subject of climate change was in full swing.

Yang — a long-shot candidate — is best known for his universal basic income proposal: he has put a $1,000-a-month payout at the forefront of his platform.

**SNIP**

Yang said the U.S. acts like it controls 100% of global emissions itself, and that, “the truth is even if we were to curb our emissions dramatically, the Earth is still going to get warmer, and we can see it around us this summer."

I’ve made the same argument about the deficit. Too late. Same argument about social security. Too late.

Remember this from 1969??

Shango – Day After Day (It’s Slippin’ Away) Lyrics

“Day after day, more people come to L... A...
Don’t you tell anybody, the whole place’s slipping away
Where can we go, when there’s no San Francisco?
Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho”

Sad I didn’t buy in Idaho but it was supposed to be under a mile of ice by now due to THE COMING ICE AGE!

Not one climate change prediction made in the last 50 years has come true.

You want the truth? There it is.

Excellent. Since it is already “too late” to do anything about it, can we just be left alone to live our lives now? Instead of being hounded to embrace lower standards of living to appease the “global warming” gods?

I agree. OC and Manhattan residents should move and sell me their soon-to-be-flooded properties at fire sale prices.

I think what he is saying is that even if all the Green New Dealers dreams come true it won’t change a thing because so many other countries won’t change. Which is an important admission to undermine these asinine policies.

Not one climate change prediction made in the last 50 years has come true.

I understand the sentiment and fully agree that environmentalists are not the people to go to in order to get reliable predictions. However, the chart demonstrates that not a single environmental prediction made 50 years ago has come true. That is, if the predictions on the poster were ALL the predictions from the earth day in 1970.

The poster does not represent ALL the environmental predictions of the last 50 years. (Some of which were made yesterday by Yang!) This is just a nit, but it invalidates the truthfulness of the poster itself.

A better title for the poster would have been: Not a single environmental prediction from Earth Day 1970 has come true. And this new title would only be appropriate if the poster contained all of the predictions from Earth Day 1970.

What he means is that other countries have pollution also, especially China and India, so just having the U.S. do stuff wouldn’t be enough.

Reasonable point, and of course Yang steers it to his 1000 dollar a month offer.
