Harry Truman after dropping the bombs on Japan did not want to use it again. Chinese spies in his administration knew in advance he was not going to use it if they crossed the Yellow River. If Truman instead had been looking forward for any excuse to nuke Communism to hell the Korean war would have ended early. The point is we already know what the reservation not to use nukes actually leads to because it already happened.

The first thing Obama did in Office was halt all of our Nuclear Weapon R&D. Our Enemies didn’t play along.

“we should not be asking our military to take on jobs that do not have a military solution.” And we should not be using diplomacy to take on jobs that require a military solution.
Neither of which has anything to do with first use of nuclear weapons. We should use them in the future, as we did in the past, when they are necessary to American national security.
