Ryan was the only one of the 10 candidates on stage in Detroit not to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem.
"The View" co-host Meghan McCain quickly pointed out the incident on Twitter.
“Put your hand over your heart for the star spangled banner Tim Ryan!!!” she wrote.

I saw one painted in the backdrop. Guess they didn’t want to trigger anyone. Also, shouldn’t it be breaking news that the other contestants DID put their hands over the left side of their upper torso? I was gonna say heart but, well, you know.

Are you KIDDING? I’ve never been to a sporting event where people didn’t put their hands over their hearts during the anthem. (Not all, but many)

In your pic, the Kenyan from Indonesia is facing the flag like the two women. He has no reason to put his hand over his heart, America is not where his heart is.

Ryan was so boring. I was surprised they even let him stay on the stage til the end.
The Gov of Montana started out so strong, then by his closing statement he could barely pronounce words. I think the CO governor gave him some mushrooms during the break.
