Donald Trump lashed out at China and the US Federal Reserve on Tuesday, unsettling investors worried about mounting risks to the global outlook.

Typically aggressive outbursts by the US president hit equity markets in both the Europe and the US on a pivotal day for the international economy.

Mr Trump let fly as top American and Chinese officials met in Shanghai in a renewed effort to end their trade war, which has now lasted nearly a year and a half. In Washington, Jay Powell, the Fed chairman, was meeting fellow US monetary policymakers amid high expectations that the US central bank will cut rates on Wednesday for the first time since the financial crisis in order to shield the economy from trouble brewing abroad.

Here shows that Trump is starting to actually get it.

The vet first American president, in 27 years that actually gets it.

From the article:

"“China is doing very badly, worst year in 27 — was supposed to start buying our agricultural product now — no signs that they are doing so. That is the problem with China, they just don’t come through,” Mr Trump tweeted. “My team is negotiating with them now, but they always change the deal in the end to their benefit.”

Anybody who has ever dealt with the Chinese knows that once a contract is signed the negotiations start. They are a boring and tiresome lot to do any business with.

Screw China. They’ll likely hold out until the 2020 election to see if Trump is replaced by someone with fewer gonads. Probably same thing with Iran.

Both will crack when Trump wins a second term.

I think it is time (now) for Trump to aggressively go after China RIGHT NOW.

Not after the election.

Right now. Lots, and lots, and lots of Democrats will wholeheartedly agree (which will win VOTES)

Now Trump.

Right now.

Yeah, I too think Trump should hit now. Later the CCP can strike back. But they can’t keep it up to interfere in the 2020 elections if he moves now.

“time (now) for Trump to aggressively go after China RIGHT NOW.”

How so? What do you think he should do that he hasn’t done already?

Enact ever-escalating tariffs.

Start at 50%. Right now.

Double them if they do anything obnoxious, or even much higher (or even shut them down completely) if they get aggressive.

Now, Trump.

You ran on this issue. You WON on this issue.

It has been two and a half years for everyone to come up with plans.

Now, Trump.

Yep. They had their Navy buying up all the stock of Australian baby food because of the shortages making a PRC black market lucrative.

Interest rates need to be cut at least a quarter point now and another quarter point next time around later this year.

It takes at least 4 months for the cuts to filter down through the economy and we are seeing Iran acting up to disrupt oil transport, Britain is facing the possibility of a non negotiated exit from the EU in October which is going to cause some economic dislocation in the EU and China is really going to start feeling the effects of the trade war at the same time.

President Trump needs to rev up the economy to inoculate it from the above potential downturn and also to facilitate our ability to exploit the window of opportunity to take advantage of China’s loss of short term competitiveness reinvest in US manufacturing

Dropping interest rates is critical for this

How about that?
I really didn’t expect the full tariff hit. But he did it.
And I’m happy.

Maybe.

It is still (very) tiny, and won’t change much now.

But it has now begun. Lots of Democrats may just join with me, and with Trump on this.

Now, Mr. President, when will this be increased to 50%?

:)
