The book and author that the shooter recommended were named in numerous articles, so I looked up the author and the book. That is where I got my FACTS from. Am I crazy for thinking that the shooter AGREED with the book - the ONLY book - he recommended?
The author was described as a Nietzschean, anarcho-socialist, Social-Darwinist, hater of Christianity and Judaism. He hated Christianity because he believed it was a religion for weaklings, and he promoted the strong-man, the uber-man, who rose above the masses.
I can see those ideas playing out in the mind of a young man full of resentments about a bleak future, a lack of social success, a lack of romance, or whatever, and taking out his anger on ordinary people he deemed unworthy of their bourgeois happiness.
I will take that interpretation over your vague surmises about some Islamic influence behind his actions. I could be wrong, and I will admit it if and when evidence comes out to support the Islamist theory. People like you get so angry when the media jumps out to politicize these tragedies, but you do EXACTLY the same thing.

The shooter was just another hateful, lost young man who grabbed onto radical ideas wherever he could find. He did not have a coherent worldview other than hate and resentment.
You are probably right. But as it's still early on, you probably should have stuck a "probably" somewhere in there.

Thank you. I’ve been repeatedly slammed here for pointing out that the evidence for an Islamist motive is extremely thin at this point.

They’d make great targets, IMO.

Not all Iranians are Muslims. Up until the fall of the Shah, Iran had a relatively significant Christian and Jewish population.

"You are probably right. But as it's still early on, you probably should have stuck a "probably" somewhere in there."
I'll concede that point - "probably" is actually I word that I would normally have used; but I left it out in this case, and would probably have inserted it if there was a way to edit comments after posting them. (If there is, I don't know how.)
But my critics have been slamming me for even SUGGESTING that this wasn't an act of Islamic terrorism, a claim for which they have even LESS evidence. A photo of a grandfather in Iran wearing Islamic clothes proves that this guy was a Jihadist?

we need to start housing more nice islamists in every leftist politicians own house they immediately reside in.
It will show that they ARENT the racists they really are and the ‘aiders and abettors’ to enemies of America they Really are

There is little if any evidence that Legan was acting as a Jihadist. The book he recommended was written by a late 19th-century - early 20th-century Nietzschean Social Darwinist who worshiped the "strong man," had anarchist sympathies, and despised Judaism and Christianity, which he thought were religions for the weak.Nietzsche didn't "worship" the super man or "uber mensch". His works were bastardized by his sister who was a Nazi.
When he said, "God is dead! God remains dead! And we have killed him! How can we console ourselves, the murderers of all murderers! The holiest and the mightiest thing the world has ever possessed has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood from us?"
It was a warning that the enlightenment and the intellectuals that have slowly bled Christianity or any religion have now unleashed the rise of the Uber Mensch... the Super Man. There is NO GOD .... and now there is NO RULES other than those to make you "the Man".. the greatest "you" or "man" there is.
He literally predicted the rise of Fascism, Communism and all the nationalists "isms" that the strong man with no qualms about killing will rise and can make people follow.
His philosophy wasn't for the "masses of sheep" but for only those that are seeking to live fully. Trying to decide if you're a camel, a lion or a baby...
I didn't read what book this idiot quoted but I'm thinking "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" was the book you're thinking.

ABC news tonight with Brian Williams called him a white supremacist. So what? Liberals think all 65 million of us are racist, xenophobes, sexists, supremacist, hitler, whatever... can't they come up with newer hate names?
The twits on MSNBC should try something different... like refute what was said - example: Baltimore's a lovely town with a low crime rate and no rats...
