This region is local to China and Remote to us. There is a difference between protecting you own back yard, and projecting force halfway across the planet.
I’ve never understood China’s warlike posture, they should be able to compete on a level playing field. They really never had a history of conquest until the Communists took over. They have all the natural resources they need, and certainly all the people to make it happen.
They really should be our Natural Ally.

That’s where the epiphany comes in, what good is the Beach Head to the Navy, and really what good is the Beach Head at all when you have non stop real time overhead surveillance.
What did they do after securing the beachhead? Go home and let ISIS take over? How about using the island and beachead from which to launch attacks. Offense wins wars, not defense... has anyone paid attention to defensive wars in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq? Not-wins.

Yes exactly. As I stated, they didn’t have the ability (tech or otherwise) to sustain their intended effort.
That’s the prob with communism - always on the verge of running out of other people’s money, the solution they come up with is to add more “other people” to their base.
Hence their expansionist tendencies and our need to kill them all.
Every 300-400 miles a bunker that can only be penetrated by a nuclear bomb is my idea.
Once Nukes are used it’s all over.

No, but being able to shoot someone’s planes out of the air and blow his ships out of the water might deter a war or two.
