In 78 it was 10,000 rand when it was 1R = $2 at least when we got the hell out.
Today the Rand is worth 7c.
Those left have one of two conditions. The dumbs or the libs. We knew in 74 it was time to GTH out.

I ask because c. 1980 I became aware there was a reasonably substantial Jewish South African ex-pat community in the Atlanta area. Those folks could see the future and voted with their feet, and got the heck out!
