Holy Smokes. I didn't see this either. I'm not a doctor. I've worked in three nursing homes and cared for my late mother in the depths of her Alzheimer's. You have to be a world class actor and really concentrate to fake dementia for a period of time. A rational, sane person will reflexively react to situations of danger, issues of personal safety, happy positive or negative emotional situations. Someone who has dementia, someone who's brain receptors in certain areas have been degraded or wiped out won't. I've seen dementia patients walk into walls, try and put there hand into a toaster that was plugged in and toasting bread without any sense of what they were doing. Mueller isn't faking here. If he is he deserves an Oscar. He really looks and acts like he's out of it. He wasn't the power behind this attempted coup. Someone else was pulling the strings.

He was aware of why he was there, what was being asked, where he was, the time and exactly when to run out the clock, who was asking (despite the squirrely where ?!?!? later in the day) and what was expected of him. That’s not dementia.
